lanie's pov
"Alright y'all ready?" I asked grabbing my mini backpack and going to the living room area. I saw all the boys on the couch on their phones. "Hello? Y'all still wanna go to the game? We gotta leave now." I said again.
"Yeah. Sorry. Do you wanna drive or do you want me to drive?" Milo asked getting up to put his shoes on.
"I can drive. Plus I need to bring everyone through the back." I told them grabbing my keys from the table. We all put our shades on and walked to the valet to grab the car. As soon as we got into the car, I told Milo to make sure the tickets were in my purse.
"Yup. They're right here. Mason, Owen. Y'all have your stuff?" He asked the two boys sitting in my back seats.
"Yeah. Can you play some music bro?" Mason asked.
"Yeah. Lanie, can I connect my phone to your bluetooth." Milo asked.
"Yeah of course. Just go on the screen and connect it. I would do it but I'm focusing on the road." I said as Milo hooked his phone up. For the rest of the car ride, Milo, Mason, and Owen just started dancing and singing along to each song as I just laughed and drove. When we pulled up to the gates of Oracle and lowered my window down and talked to the security guard. "Hi Colby. Nice to see you again!"
"Lanie! It's been so long. How are you?" He asked me.
"I'm good! Steph told me I'm supposed to park in the back? He put me and my guests under his list?" I clarified with him.
"Yup. You're right here." He said looking at the clipboard. "You know where to go right?"
"Yup. Go straight, take a left, and park near the player's entrance." I said.
"Perfect. Alright. Go on through and have fun at the game." He said directing us through traffic.
"You know the security guards?" Mason asked.
"Yeah. I grew up going to games. Didn't matter if it was for the Warriors, the Raiders, or the Athletics. My dad used to work in Oracle for architectural design so I would always go with him to work whenever I could." I explained to them.
"That's awesome." Owen said looking around.
"Yup. Alright. Get out of my car." I joked as I went to the trunk to grab my backpack. We went through security and went to our seats. I was talking to Milo when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and saw Joe Lacob. "Uncle Joe! Hi!" I screamed attacking him with a hug.
"Sky. How are you? You're all grown up now!" He said.
"I'm doing good. And you're still the only one who calls me Sky or Skylar." I laughed.
"Who are these people?" He asked pointing to Milo and the two goofs in the back who were star struck by all the players.
"Well. This is my boyfriend Milo. And I know he's wearing the wrong jersey. He won't listen to me when I tell him the Bay Area is the best area. And those two are our friends Mason and Owen. I made them wear our jerseys." I said laughing with Joe.
"Well. Even though you're not in the appropriate attire. It's nice to meet you. I hope you guys enjoy the game." He said.
"Thanks Uncle Joe." I thanked him with a hug before he went to talk to Coach Kerr.
"Everyone is so welcoming here." Milo told me.
"Just wait. Everyone is nice because the game hasn't started yet. And also because you're with me." I said scrunching my nose.
"Haha very funny." He said poking me. The game was about to start when the Warriors announcer came running up to me.
"Lanie. We need you to help us." They said to me urgently.
"What's wrong? Why do you need me to help you guys? How can I help out?" I asked clearly confused.
"We have no one to sing the national anthem. Gerald was supposed to be here but his plane is landing late. He'll be in here on time for halftime but not for the anthem. Can you please sing for us?" He asked me clearly very worried.
"Uh Yeah. Sure." I said grabbing the microphone from him.
"You're gonna do great. You'll be okay." Milo said comforting me.
"Mi. What if I forget the words? I can't go out there! I'm going to fail and my music career will be over." I said distraught.
"Hey hey hey. You'll be okay. I'm here. I'm your good luck charm. And plus it can't be worse than Fergie's rendition." He said comforting me as I laughed.
"Alright. I can do this." I said as the lights began to dim.
"Here to sing the National Anthem, is Bay Area native, currently number one on the Billboard Hot 100, Lanie Adalair!" The announcer said as cheers began to erupt. I stepped onto center court and put my hand on my heart. I took a deep breath as the music started.
