I watched my sister hug Callum as I waited in the car. Looking at my phone I looked at Milo's contact. "Hey Milo. You're probably busy that's why you're not picking up but me and my sister are leaving today. I hope we can continue this friendship. I'll miss you. Text me when you get this. Alright I gotta go. Bye Milo. Hopefully I'll see you next time you're down here." I hung up as my sister got into the car.
"I'm gonna miss him." She said to me waving at Callum as we drove off.
"Hey we'll be here in like two weeks. You don't have to wait too long." I reassured her.
"You're right. And I can't wait. Did you talk to Milo?" She asked for the billionth time that day.
"I left a voicemail. He's probably busy..." I trailed off.
"He'll respond. Don't worry." She smiled as she looked at me. "I'm so proud of you sis. You're becoming a real adult. You're gonna do great things."
"I hope so." I said turning to look at the rear view mirror. Looking at the house that we rented that ended up changing my life. The house of memories that I wouldn't let go. The balcony door a tiny bit open letting all of the memories pour out into the Southern California sky.milo's pov
I sat in my car and looked at my phone.
one new voicemail from lanie bearsky💞
I immediately pressed on the voicemail and heard it through my speakers. "Hey Milo. You're probably busy that's why you're not picking up but me and my sister are leaving today. I hope we can continue this friendship. I'll miss you. Text me when you get this. Alright I gotta go. Bye Milo. Hopefully I'll see you next time you're down here." I messed up. I should've went to go see her. I texted her saying, "hey I'm sorry I couldn't send you off but let me know when you'll be down here. And don't break our streak! Hope you have safe travels and text me pics of your horses maybe I can go up there and we can go on a ride." I went to the song she downloaded onto my phone needing to listen to her voice but what I found was different. There was an untitled track. Curious, I listened. And what I didn't know was it was everything I needed the most.

"Sammy! Read the text to me! It's from Milo!!" I yelled at her.
"Lan, we have an hour until we get back. Can you not wait an hour??" She asked.
"It's been there for over four hours already! I was being a good driver and not using my phone while driving and now you're distracting me by not reading it to me!" I stated impatiently.
"fine. it says 'sorry couldn't send you off blah blah blah. don't break our streak. more blah.' there I'm going back to sleep." She said turning back to fall asleep.
"ugh fine. im not driving next time." I said defeated. As I drove for the next hour, I decided what I was going to text him. As we pulled up, I decided not to wake Sammy, since she needed her 'beauty sleep'.
"LANIE SKYLAR ADALAIR. HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME IN YOUR CAR INSTEAD OF WAKING ME UP!" She yelled at me as I was expecting her to.
"You said you needed your sleep. I didn't want to disturb you." I shrugged.
"Ugh. All this because I didn't read you a text??" She asked frustrated. I got up and went to my room and stared out the window and wondered if I should text Milo.
"Hey sweetie. How are you? You've been quiet. Come on talk to mama." My mom said sitting next to me on the bed.
"I'm okay I'm just worried. I don't know if I'm going to be okay in the real world."
"Baby, you're going to be great. You're a blessing to me and to your father and to your sister. I've always counted on you to be a great person and you've never let me down." She said comforting me.
"Mama. I need to tell you something and I don't know how you're going to react but all I ask is your support."
"Lanie Skylar Adalair. You'll always have my support. I'm so proud of how far you've come and where you're heading. You've already made me prouder than I could ever be. I love you, just remember that."
"Alright here it goes." I said. "I applied to another college and got the decision back."
"That's great honey! What was the decision?" She asked.
"I got in. With a scholarship." I trailed.
"That's amazing! Dental school is not cheap." She said.
"That's the thing. It's not for dental school."
"Oh is it a med program?" She asked.
"I actually didn't apply for med at all."
"I don't understand. You've always wanted to be a dentist." She stated.
"Mom. I want to pursue music. I've always wanted to. And science is a passion of mine but I met someone in LA. A person I've looked up to who said I could have a future in the music industry."
"You're going to let one person change your mind? About something that dictates your life?" She asked furiously.
"Mama! I need your support!" I said raising my voice in frustration.
"Where is this college? Is it even good? I don't want you to throw away your future!"
"Mama. I got into the Berklee College of Music."
"Oh my god. Lanie. I'm so proud of you." She said hugging me. "This is amazing news! I know you know I've always wanted you to go into the medical field like myself and your sister. But, if this is truly your passion, then I can't hold you back. Are you going to commit?"
"I think so. I'm going to put the deposit in tomorrow." I said confidently.
"Get ready. We're going out to dinner tonight. We have to celebrate." She said running out of my room to tell my dad. I let out a large sigh.
"How do I tell her that I start in the spring and that I'm on track to graduate early." I said to myself. I got up and went to my closet. "Time to celebrate. I can think about that stuff tomorrow."🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼
"Sammy! Grab your keys! We gotta go if we're gonna make it by lunch! I'll meet you in the car! Bye mama. Bye papa. I'll call you when we get there." I said kissing them goodbye. I was heading back down to LA. I sat in the car and reclined my seat getting ready to nap.
"Have you talked to Milo at all? Ever since the last trip?" My sister asked sitting behind the wheel.
"No." I said bluntly as she looked at me like her eyes were going to bulge out of her sockets. "I didn't know what to say!"
"Did you break your streak? He said not to."
"I deleted my Snapchat." I said.
"Lanie! Why do you always run away from your problems!"
"How am I supposed to tell him that in two months I'll be moving to Boston. How do I tell him, 'oh about us being friends, i'm moving across the country in two months. i won't see you until summer if i even come back'. I can't say that to him!" I explained.
"Lanie, you guys are friends not in a relationship. You can work it out!"
"I'm going to sleep. Wake me up when we get there." I said laying down and putting in my earbuds.milo's pov
"owen, mason. I haven't heard from her since she left last time. she hasn't texted me and she deleted snapchat. Did I do something wrong??" I asked my two best friends.
"bro chill out. You're fine. Maybe she's going through something." Mason explained.
"Yeah I agree. Have you tried talking to her? It sounds like you're relying on her to initiate the conversation." Owen added.
"I mean, not really." I said. "I just thought she'd text me!"
"What about her song? Any news on that since you passed it along to the producers of that movie you're talking about?" Mason asked.
"She doesn't know I have it. I was only supposed to have 'consequences' not 'everything i need'." I said.
"Bro, you gotta tell her that you passed it along. It is her property technically." Owen said as he paused the game.
"Owen! I was about to get a kill!" Mason yelled.
"Mason shut up. You can get more kills after we finish this talk."
"Fine. I'll call her." I said stepping out of the room. I looked up her contact and saw the voicemail of the last time I heard her voice.
"Come on Lanie pick up." I said as I heard the call being answered. "Lanie?"
"Sorry this is Sammy. Her sister. Lanie's asleep were on our way back to LA."
"You guys are on your way back?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm assuming she didn't tell you?"
"You assumed right. We haven't talked since you guys left last time." I said.
"Listen, we're staying at the same place that we stayed at last time. I'll text you the address. You guys are going to talk. And be patient with her. She's going through a lot right now so she's delicate." She informed me.
"Alright. Let me know. Bye Sammy."
"Bye Milo." She said as she hung up.
"Ugh. This is gonna be harder than I thought." I sighed.
"What's up dude? You got to talk to her?" Owen asked.
"No she's sleeping. Her sister answered. They're on their way back down here." I said. "You were right. Her sister said she's going through a lot. I don't know if I should mention the song yet. Not until I know what's going on."
"Well what's going on?" Mason said taking his headphones off.
"Alright I guess you guys will know first." I said. "You know how 'Aquaman' is coming out?" I said as they both nodded. "They want to feature 'everything i need' on the soundtrack. I guess it fits well with the characters."
"Bro you're in deep shit. You gotta tell her. You can't just go and make deals with people for her." Mason said.
"Yeah no shit Sherlock." I said shaking my head. "They'll be here in about an hour. I'm gonna head over to their place and talk to her."
"Alright dude. Let us know if you need our help. Well, at least my help. I think Mason is still trying to rank up his kills. Please tell her by the end of the day." Owen said.
"I'll try. Hopefully she won't freak out." I said staring at her contact.A/N: Owen and Mason have been introduced into the story! And Lanie has some big news.
