I was sitting on the couch when Mason and Owen burst into Alan's house.
"Bro. We gotta leave like now." Mason said grabbing me and pulling me off the couch.
"What is going on? Why? What happened? Where is Lanie? Is she okay?" I asked worried and confused.
"She's gone Milo. She left her house she's not there." Owen told me honestly.
"Come on we need to go home and pack. We're gonna fly up to San Francisco and drive from there." Mason told me as he pushed me into the back seat. I buckled up and scrolled through my contacts and saw Lanie's contact. I lingered over the call icon and thought to myself, "I'm not letting you go. I'm coming to save you."lanie's pov
I checked into a hotel in San Francisco and brought my bags up to my hotel room. I sat on the bed and called one of my family friends hoping she would be able to help me.
"Ayesha. I'm uh in San Francisco. Are you and Steph home?" I asked beginning to freak out.
"Lanie! I haven't heard from you in so long. I'm home with Riley, Ryan, and Canon. But Steph is still out on his road trip. He'll be back in about two days." She told me.
"Can I come over and stay with you guys?" I asked her.
"Of course! You're always welcome to stay with us anytime." She told me. "Why aren't you staying with your parents and sister?" She asked.
"Uh. They're out of town. And plus I haven't seen you and the kids in a long!" I told her a tiny lie. I mean my parents were still technically in town but I didn't want them to get caught up in my drama. They knew about my breakup but I wanted them to see that I was okay. Even if I wasn't on the inside. I sat on my hotel room bed and decided I would stay the night and leave tomorrow morning. "I have to be a new person. I have to leave my old life in the past." I said to myself.milo's pov
We left the house early in the morning to get to LAX to catch the soonest flight to the San Francisco International Airport. I was anxious. I didn't have Lanie's address or anything. We were going off pure luck. We got onto the plane and while Owen and Mason were sleeping, I went on my phone to get directions from the airport to Alamo. It was about an hour drive and I was ready to look. We landed in foggy San Francisco and went straight to the rental car place. We got a car and I hooked my phone up to the Bluetooth system and put the directions to Alamo on. As I was driving through the streets, a girl sitting in an Uber looked scarily familiar but I just thought I was hallucinating. I went on and followed the directions and eventually, we went our separate ways.

I looked to my left to see Milo, Owen, and Mason in a rental car. I was shocked. At that moment I knew, Lauren had found that I left and they were coming to find me. When we lost them, a wave of relief fell over me and I focused on getting to Ayesha and Steph's house. Over the course of the ride, I had been debating on texting my sister about what happened. I decided not to. She would find out sooner or later. But, I was hoping it would be never. I arrived at The Curry's home and got my stuff out of the Uber. I dragged my suitcase up the stairs and knocked on the door just in case the children were still sleeping.
"Lanie! You're here! Come on in. The guest room is all set up." She said welcoming me into her home. "The kids are with Steph's parents. It's just you and me. Steph will be back tonight." She said grabbing some suitcases from me. After we dropped my bags off inside my room, Ayesha brought me to the couches and brewed us some tea. She sat down handing a mug to me.
"Thanks Yesh." I said grabbing the mug and stirring it.
"So what brought you up here?" She asked me.
I sipped at my tea and then set the mug down on the table.
"Uh. I'm not sure if you saw the article about my uh relationship a couple weeks ago. I just needed to get out of LA for a little bit. Get a new headspace. I just released my album too so all of my work is done for now. They're letting me focus on writing my music and my mental health." I told her.
"How are you feeling? I know relationships can be tough." She told me rubbing my arm.
"I just don't know why he did it. I really thought he liked me. I miss him." I told her. This was the first time I had openly talked about my feelings with someone.
"Things will be okay. Have you uh talked to Milo about it?" She asked.
"No. I can't see him without crying. Every time I see something about him I always think about when I found out." I told her.
"It's been three weeks. I think you need to talk to him. Even if you don't get back together, closure will be good for the both of you." She told me honestly.
"Yeah. Maybe. Can you do me a favor?" I asked her.
"Of course!" She said.
"Can you fix this?" I said combing my fingers through my grown out blonde hair.
"I have an idea." She said getting up. I chugged down my tea and set my cup down when Ayesha came running through the door with a box in her hand.
"What is that?" I asked her confused.
"Hair dye. I'm gonna cut your hair and dye it. What about a dark brown to chocolate ombré!" She asked excitedly.
"I'm down! Let's do it!" I told her.
"Alright. What about we watch some movies and eat lunch and then we'll do your hair. It might take a while so by the time we finish, Steph will be back home." She smiled at me.
"Alright. Go pick out a movie. I'm gonna go change into something more comfy." I said getting up from the couch and walking to my guest room.milo's pov
"I think we've combed through every single neighborhood in this city." Mason told me.
"Let's go around one more time." I told him beginning to go to the beginning of our route.
"Milo. We've gone around 3 times already. It's going to be dark soon." Owen told me.
"Fine. I guess we'll go to the hotel now." I said to them driving back to the hotel. I gave the keys to the hotel valet as we got out of the car and grabbed our suitcases. I checked us in and gave the room keys to the boys.
"Milo. Do you want to come with us to get some dinner? There's a chick fil a close by." Mason asked me.
"I think I'm just gonna stay in tonight. I'm kinda tired from driving all day." I told them.
"Alright, we'll bring some back for you." Owen said as they left the room. I sat down and turned on the TV just to see that Dancing With the Stars was on. I immediately turned it off and opened my suitcase to grab my pajamas. I opened my bag to see the box that contained the locket. I quickly grabbed my pajama pants and a shirt to change into after my shower. I went into the bathroom and shut the door switching the lock.lanie's pov
Ayesha just finished my hair as I was washing out the dye and styling my hair. I changed into my shorts and sweatshirt as I walked out to see Steph and some of his teammates in the living room.
"Hi Lanie! It's nice to see you again! Haven't seen you in such a long time!" Steph said getting up from in between his teammates to hug me.
"Hi Steph. It's uh nice to see you too." I told him as I hugged him. After we hugged, I folded my arms and stood there awkwardly.
"Well. Let me introduce you to my teammates. I know you watch us whenever we play but, here's a formal introduction." He said bringing me to the couches and sitting me down in the middle where he was sitting down before. "This is Draymond, Klay, KD, Quinn, and Jordan." He said as I shook each of their hands.
"It's nice to meet you all. Uh. I'm actually not feeling well. So I'm just going to head to my room for the night. It's nice to meet you guys again. Maybe I can talk to everyone again later on." I said getting up and running to my room. I sat on my bed and began to cry.
"Auntie Lanie? Why are you crying?" I heard Riley ask me jumping on the bed next to me.
"Hi Riles. I'm just a bit sad. I'm going through a lot right now." I told her forcing a smile.
"I know you'll get through it. You're a very nice girl. I have a question for you." She told me.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"When you become an adult, do you end up crying a lot? Because, I know Mommy and Daddy cry sometimes." She said to me holding my hands in her little ones.
"It depends babe." I began to say. "Sometimes, they can be happy tears and sometimes they can be sad."
"Are yours happy tears or sad tears?" She asked me.
"Riley! There you are! Lanie, I am so sorry about her. I'll be back." She said picking Riley up and bring her out of the room. I let out a few more tears before getting my guitar out and singing an old song of mine. I was ending the chorus when I heard a loud knock on the door. I yelled out, "Come in!" because I thought it was Ayesha but it was Jordan.
"Oh sorry. I didn't know that you were uh ..." he trailed off.
"It's okay. I needed to get it out of my system." I told him putting my guitar down and wiping away my tears with my sleeve.
"Do you uh wanna talk about it?" He asked softly.
"Uh. I don't know. Sorry. I mean I don't really talk about my feelings." I said honestly.
"You should. It's freeing. You can't always bottle it up and keep it from everyone." He said giving me advice.
"It's just. Now that I'm a bigger celebrity, I feel like everyone is out to exploit me. I went through that even before I became a celebrity so I just got used to keeping my thoughts to myself." I told him fighting back the tears.
"It's a hard lifestyle. I know how you feel. You'll be alright. You're a strong girl. I can tell. You'll be okay. Are you going to be up here for a while?" He asked me.
"Uh. I think so. I'm just taking a break from LA. We'll see what happens." I told him.
"Well. You should definitely come out to a game." He suggested.
"I'll see if I can." I said with a slight smile.A/N: lanie is running away from her problems. 😗 I hope you're enjoying the story! Please leave a comment and a vote! love you guys!! xoxo, lanie❣️
