I was already starting to feel pain. At first, the day after Kane arrived, it felt like growing pains. It currently felt like a new large bruise being poked and held there. Gabriel was visiting the moon court, or so Jacob says. Damion had gone with him leaving only a few Fae in the castle, Kane was going to pair up the humans on the full moon, which was the day after my change.
my change. it worried me, which was obvious by how much I picked at my nails and bit them. my hair was a mess from rolling around the bed in pain, the braid basically a distorted blob. I stopped sighing though, and that was a plus side. It was more gasps and pants from holding my breath and attempting to stop the pain.
Of course, my wriggling, groaning, nail-biting, breath holding, and hair pulling did absolutely nothing to stop the pain. I once again rolled around on the bed, clutching my stomach even though the pain was everywhere. A hiss broke through my tight lips, the pain growing. a knock on the door barely registered in my mind as I focused on trying to block everything out.
"Yuki?" it was the soft whisper of Maya's voice. I quickly moved my hands to cover the tips of my ears. tears started rolling down my cheeks as I heard her footsteps hesitantly approach. Kane burst into the room, her eyes wide as she took us both in. "Kane, w-what's wrong with her?"
"Nothing, Maya," Kane said, a little too quickly though. Kane grasped the human's hand, pulling her out of the room. she gave me a sad and worried glance over her shoulder before the door shut. I let out a choked sob as the pain increased slightly. Why was this happening so soon?
The door opened again, then closed. almost silent footfalls entered my ears as Jacob came closer to the bed. he had an odd colored liquid in a cup as well as some potato soup. maybe he had answers for me. he gently pressed his hand to my forehead, a sigh passing through his lips.
"lay down and get those blanket off of you," he whispered, setting the tray of stuff on the end table and sitting on the bed. He draped a cold rag over my head, helping cool my temperature. He grabbed the cup, the purple-green muck sloshing in the glass. he set it on my lips, tipping it into my throat.
It tasted horrid. Absolutely horrible. I held back a cough, swallowing quickly, sighing as he pulled the cup away. he gave me a sad smile, pulling a small can off the tray. unscrewing the lid revealed a gel lotion inside, menthol reaching my nose.
"it helps sore joints, can you pinpoint where the pain is the worst?" he asked. I nodded, which made me feel like my brain was splashing against my skull, a headache pressing into my temples. I rolled onto my back, pulling up my shirt. "It looks like it is bruising," he whispered. my hands curled into fists around the silky sheets.
the coldness was smeared onto my back, making me gasp. he worked the gel onto my skin, numbness covering my back, easing the pain. I sighed as some relief washed over me. my body relaxed a little, though my legs, arms, neck, stomach, and head still hurt like heck. he stopped, wiping his hands on my arms, the muscles numbing there as well.
"It lasts for an hour, you won't be able to move, though, so whenever you need something you will have to ask," his voice was slightly louder than a whisper, which made me smile a little. "do you want the soup now? I can have Kane feed it to you," he suggested. I managed to shake my head as I stared at him.
"I will eat later, when the soup is cold," I said. He nodded, his eyes wandered to my cheeks, a frown on his face.
"you were crying?" he asked. I nodded again. "The pain was that bad?" he asked, wiping stray tears with his thumb.
"yeah. Maya had walked in, it kind of scared me what she would think if she saw me like this," I mumbled, my voice trailing away, eyes squeezing closed. He nodded, his thumb making a circle on my cheek. I leaned into his hand with a small sigh.
"Can i get you anything?" He asked. I was about to shake my head but nodded instead. He tilted his head in silent question.
"Can you sit with me until i fall asleep?"i asked. Blush dappled my freckles, but the small warm smile he gave me made me smile in return. He sat at my feet, pulling out one of the books i had stacked there. The spine gave a crack as he opened it, turning to the first chapter.
"He was hidden in the bramble bushes. His hands brushed across the leaves as he peeked into the large mansion of the kingsmen household." Jacob began. My eyes closed, a deep breath of air filling my lungs.
"Thank you," I whispered. He gave me a small smile in return, continueing to read the story.
