I want summer
I want hot days
where I can wear self-cut shorts and pretty sundresses
I want warm nights
where I can lay out under the stars and make wishes on the ones that fall
I want to read poems on the beach
then memorize every line that makes my heart leap
I want to eat watermelon that drips onto my chin
then laugh at myself for being a mess
I want things to be light and bright and simple
I want summer
AN: So I'm realizing that I'm more of a memoir writer than a poet, though the line between the two is rather hazy.
I'm taking a creative writing class this semester that focuses on poems and memoirs. So hopefully I will be able to improve my skills in both.
