LEO'S POV:

The past few days have consisted of three things: worrying and watching Donnie and Noah mess around with technology. And honestly, the second one is the only thing that seems to be getting us anywhere. It has been five days, and we still don't have more than a lead. And if we do, Donnie and Noah aren't telling us about it. But I think that we're all pretty confident that they know what they're doing.

"Leo, can you get me a water bottle please?" Rose asks.

"Sure." I stand up and head into the kitchen. Rose and I had never really had any type of negative interaction until five days ago when we all found out that Lexi was missing. Things have been better since.

Throughout the five nonstop days crammed in the King apartment working on a way to find Lexi, we have learned a lot about each other; small things that we probably wouldn't have known before. For instance, Rose prefers refrigerated water.

But I do in fact know that Lexi prefers her water room-temperature. She doesn't like the freezing feeling down her throat because it stops her from drinking as much as she wants in the timeframe she wants to. With room-temperature water, she can chug a water bottle within ten seconds. It's a pointless fact, but it's nice to know. Pointless facts are always nice to know (Donnie sure has a lot of them).

As I walk through the doorway of the kitchen, I am washed with a shock of a memory. I remember the night that Lexi and I announced to everyone that we were dating. Walking towards the refrigerator, I can almost smell the incredible food that Lexi had been cooking that day. I feel pain in my heart when I remember the kiss that we shared right before she left the kitchen. Instead of hurrying out, I stay there to savor the pain before the moment leaves. I place my hand on the counter that I had pushed her against and close my eyes to try to remember the way that it felt when she wrapped herself around me, kissing me. It hurts, but I don't care. I want to remember.

It's the same thing that happened the first day that we returned to the lair after the three-day mutant spree. I walked into my room and immediately, all of the memories from three days before came flooding back to me. I stared at my bed for what seemed like an eternity. The blanket was still thrown into a heap like it was when we left. I couldn't stop thinking about the way that it felt to have her hands on my body and her mouth going places I never thought anyone would ever go. I savored how good it felt when she did it and the way that I wished in that moment that she would've let me do the same thing for her. I couldn't believe that she wanted me like that.

That day when I stood in those feelings and remembered, I simultaneously felt like I was going to throw up. Benj was dead. Lexi and I were broken up. So many things had happened in that short amount of time, and my migraines were back. It was hell. But still, there I stood, trying to capture the memory before it fled.

And that's the same thing that I do now.

Rose doesn't bother to mention that I had taken a long time in the kitchen. She simply thanks me for the water bottle.

About an hour later, Noah and Donnie are ready to reveal their thoughts.

"Okay," Donnie begins, gripping onto the sheet that covers a machine. "I present to you...the Shifter. AKA, the way my brothers and I are going to sneak into the headquarters."

"Explain what it does, please," Rose says, leaning against the table.

Donnie glances over at Noah and nods.

"Okay, so with some very advanced technology..."

"Some which may or may not have been legal..." Donnie continued.
