Book Six Chapter Thirty

MJ runs over jumping on my knee smiling at me, I can't wait till he knows I am his dad.

"Is Alena okay?" I turn to Liam and nod.

"Yeah just a woman at school that is all" MJ continues bouncing on my knee.

"Where are the girls?" I look around unable to see them.

"Sat in their playroom to get away from MJ" I laugh and nod.

"So what happened with the woman at school?" I look at him, slowly shaking my head.

"Liam don't ask me, ask Alena but wait until we get back from been out, don't spoil her night by bringing it all back up. I am going to cook" 

Walking through Georgina is sat at the table feeding the baby, walking into the kitchen I begin cooking her eyes on me the whole time.

"I wouldn't have said anything Marcus, it is her choice, and I have seen how she is when you are around compared to when you aren't" Nodding I carry on cooking, I don't exactly want to get into an argument even if she is waving a white flag. 

They are taking a while talking, no doubt Jackson making her feel fine about tonight and him watching her. Finishing cooking I get the food on the plates, putting them on the table as they walk down. Sitting at the table we eat quietly, the kids talking away.

"MJ, do you want Marcus to get you in bed tonight?" Alena turns to him, and he nods smiling, this child is very trusting.

"Why MJ?" Katie's voice loud making us turn to her, well this is going to be hard.

"Because MJ likes Marcus" Alena's answer simple and straight to the point, Katie shakes her head.

"Vicky said Marcus is MJ's dad we heard" I look at them picking MJ up.

"Come on little man, you can eat and watch TV" He shouldn't hear this, or find out like this either. 

Walking into the living room Georgina and Liam follow, sitting we watch TV, Alena and Jackson clearly explaining what was said. MJ now sat watching TV in his own little world smiling happily.

"So that is what happened at school then?" Liam's voice quiet as I nod, I didn't even think about the fact the girls were stood with Alena while this Vicky woman was talking to her. 

I want to say something, imagine saying that in front of someone's kids. Several minutes later they stand up and walk through to the living room, the girls not saying much just sitting. 

Had MJ being listening and paying attention would he have understood what Katie was saying? Will he have understood if he was with Alena when Vicky said it?

"Right, well bedtime kids, come on" Alena stands up, the kids running upstairs.

"I am calling ahead to sort things" Jackson follows them up, and me and Alena walk behind slowly.

"You okay?" She nods quietly.

"Just a long day with a lot of events" Nodding we walk upstairs.

"MJ doesn't get a bath tonight, just washed and teeth brushed" I nod and walk to the bathroom MJ stood trying to brush his teeth himself, after he has finished he walks to his bedroom, gets changed and sits on the bed. 

Grabbing a book I sit and read to him, tonight though he doesn't talk, he just lies down, five minutes later he is asleep. Walking out Alena is in the hall waiting.

"Ready to leave kitten?" She nods and smiles.

"So Jackson put your mind at ease about everything tonight then, you are not worried anymore?"
