Book Five Chapter Thirty-Eight

Getting up I leave quickly, I need to get this sorted before Alena's launch tonight, I have a few more items to pack before going to the letting agency. 

Jumping in the car I start driving, about ten minutes down the road I hear the bang, the car sliding around the road and hitting a pole, getting out I see the tire practically gone. How the hell did the tire just blow like that? 

My face hurts, too much. Walking back, I find pieces of the tire, a big piece with glass in only it is surrounded by glue, and not a small bit either, this was no accident. 

Sitting my side hurts, all this because I didn't check the damn car. Getting back, I walk in, Alena's face showing her shock from the state of me.

"What has happened?" She grabs the first aid kit running over to me.

"I am fine Alena, I have had worse remember" I try smiling, she doesn't need this today.

"What happened, Marcus?" I have no choice though, she won't stop till she finds out.

"My tire blew, it wasn't an accident, it looked like there was a large piece of glass stuck in it, I forgot to check the tires before I left" Someone wants to hurt us all, or maybe just Jackson? 

If I got hurt, or Alena then it would hurt him.

"I will take the food up to Jackson, then come back down and clean the cuts" 

She grabs the plate and goes upstairs walking back down, she sits with me, cleaning the cuts on my chest, she then starts on my face when Jackson walking downstairs looking at me shocked.

"What the hell happened to you? Sleep with a married woman?" Jackson laughs looking at me.

"Yeah, a married woman, with a sabotaged car" I raise my eyebrows and Jackson instantly knows what I mean.

"What happened with your car?" Jackson sits next to Alena, waiting for me to reply.

"I don't know I checked it, it was all fine, then suddenly the tire blew, walking back a bit there was a large piece of glass with tire and glue stuck to it, I forgot to check my tires" 

Jacksons body tensed up, he looks at Alena, she knows so there is no point him trying to tell her to leave.

"I am not thick Jackson, I need to know what is going on, you can't hide these things from me, it doesn't exactly protect me does it" She finished cleaning my face and packed everything away again.

"Okay, well, we need to figure out who it is, who it might be, what is it that links us all together" Jackson's hands grasped his head as he tries to think, knowing would solve all our problems

"Me, the first time, I was driving, this time, Marcus had been and collected me, it could have been done thinking I would be in the car. Whoever it is, is clearly trying to hurt me, and the way to hurt me? People I know, let's be honest, I took so much of a beating from Max, no one is going to do that again because it didn't hurt me like losing you"

 She is making sense, it doesn't help with who it is, but she is making sense. This person wants to hurt Alena, I thought it was Jackson they wanted to hurt, but it is Alena.

"Right, well where ever you go, either me or Marcus goes, you don't leave this house without one of us okay?" He means it, and he knows he doesn't even need to ask me, I will do it anyway.

"Agree, I am going to get the girls up before I set off" Alena walks off, Jackson watches waiting for her to leave.

"Is that everything?" I nod, there is nothing else I am not hiding anything this time, well not about the crash anyway.
