I was seasoning the steaks while Cameron was starting the grill and Jamila was making the pasta salad along with the regular salad. I heard the front door slam shut making me look over towards the kitchen door.
Malaysia came through the door with Mikah pushing her.
"Tell her." Mikah said
I rinsed my hands and wiped them off with a dry cloth.
"Mama I have a boyfriend." She said
"Tell her everything." Mikah said
She stayed silent.
"That little nigga using her for her money." He said
"No he's not. He's just down on his feet and I'm helping him out. Plus his mom is sick." Malaysia defended him
"How much has he been asking you for?" I asked
"Not much."
"Give me a number Malaysia." I said
"Well he just asked me for $2500 but it's to help his mom out with her bills I promise."
"Oh baby he playing the fuck out of you." Jamila said
"He is and it's stopping now." I said
"Mama he needs help."
"Malaysia how you gone help somebody and you don't have money yourself? Don't nobody need that much money for no damn bill. And you're 18 and don't even pay bills here so why the fuck are you paying his bills?" I asked
"Because he's my boyfriend and I want to help him out."
"Ask your dad what he thinks about this." I watched as her eyes stretched.
"Ma you know how daddy is."
"I've told you already so obviously you need both parents to tell you." I said
"Man it's hot as hell out there." Cameron said walking into the kitchen. We all looked over at him. "What? Miya pregnant?"
"Nope but your daughter is letting some little nigga play her for her money." I said
"Malaysia you might as well end what ever y'all got going on." He said
"Daddy he's broke and needs help until he can find a job."
"I'm not letting my baby girl raise a man. You're in high school, you need to enjoy it." He said
"Y'all not understanding he loves me and he just needs help right now."
"He need to get a fucking job if he need help that bad. Until you act right give me both of your cards. As a matter of fact let me hold your whole wallet." Malaysia handed her wallet over and Cameron looked through it. "Where that $500 I gave you this morning?"
