"You heard it from Lucas Prescott himself?" Charlie smiled devilishly. "You lucky girl. I think you're the only one to hear the truth of the Marstella Incident from the man himself!""Marstella sounds like a self-serving a-hole," I retorted.
"Oh, for sure," Charlie grinned. "But it's every maid's dream to be the next Marstella. The maid to win over good old Prince Coleman."
"They want to be the next Marstella?" I sneered, though I was hardly surprised.
"Well, without the whole 'leading on the head butler' bit. Too messy," he said.
"It's all so ridiculous," I scoffed. "Even though Prince Coleman apparently does like Marstella, she is still only one of his many many women chasing after him. I don't know what these girls intend to accomplish."
"Who knows." Charlie shrugged. "You would understand the Prince's charms the best, I'd imagine. I've never seen him up close and in person. Is he as handsome as they all say, then?"
"He's good looking. I'll grant him that. Though his hair is shaggy and his personality negates any attractiveness he holds."
"Good-looking people can get away with murder," Charlie noted.
I laughed. "You're observant for a kid."
"I am sixteen, you know."
"Ooh. Perfect age for Princess Calista!"
"I don't think she'd fancy a gardener like me," he said.
"She fancies a butler," I answered.
"Really? She likes Mister Prescott, then?" He rose his eyebrows.
"I'm surprised that you weren't aware."
"Even I don't hear all the gossip."
"Well then, yes, the Princess is half in-love with Luke."
"Luke. You two sure must be close. And what will you do if Luke falls for Princess Calista?"
I shot Charlie a glare. "He won't."
"Well, she is rich," he said.
"Money isn't everything. If it was, then I'd be all over the Prince like every other girl."
"I think that's your strategy. Playing hard to get," Charlie answered. "It's brilliant, really."
"It's not a strategy!"
