I lead Ace through the beach towards Pin's small cottage. Aces ears twitched at every sound. He listened and raised his head at everything. His head was held high and he turned to watch every tree branch that moved in the wind.
"Took you long enough" Pin mumbled.
"What's his problem?" He asked after chuckling at my eye roll.
"He takes control, pulls at the reins" I explained.
"Brooklyn that's normal in a horse" he mumbled.
"Watch" I said. I slipped on my helmet and mounted Ace. The moment my hands touched the reins he began to pull and bite at the bit.
"Have you tried changing the bit?" Pin asked.
"6 times" I answered.
Pin raised his hands to the reins and pulled them out of my grasp. As the fell amongst Ace's mane he stood still and quiet.
"Do you recognise that?" He asked.
"Race horse" I gasped.
"Race horses are taught when to run and when to stop" Pin explained.
"Your dad did not get this horse from Olympians" Pin concluded.
I slid off of Ace's back.
"Thanks for the help" I sighed looking up at him. Pin still looked like the guy I fell in love with. He was the guy I fell in love with but it doesn't stop him from being the guy that lied to me.
"Brooklyn, I know we don't have a lot of trust right now but I didn't graffiti Holloway" he said honestly. I leaned in and hugged him, like we used to before we became a thing we were friends before.
"Brooklyn, Zoe and I are back together" he said awkwardly stepping back. His awkwardness made me giggle. He raised an eyebrow at my reaction.
"What?" He asked.
"Pin I'm not hitting on you" I giggled.
"Callum and I are actually, I don't really know what we are but he makes me really happy" I couldn't help but blush at the mention of Callum.
"You deserve someone good Brooklyn" he smiled.
"Thank you Pin" I smiled up at him.
"I've always got your back, you know that right?" He asked.
"I do, thank you" I smiled at him.

When I arrived home I recognise the black SUV in the driveway. Callum was here. I slammed the front door shut and stormed into the kitchen, my dad sat at the table along with Callum, my mother and Blair.
"I was just with Pin" I stated.
"You were with Pin?" Callum asked.
"I brought Ace over because I needed help with understanding why he wasn't like any other horse I had been given to work with before" I started.
"And then it hit me, he's a race horse!" I yelled.
"You used me for what? Another investment?" I asked.
"He's a race horse!" I exclaimed slamming my hand down on the counter.
"Brooklyn!" My mother gasped at my outrage.
"He lied again! And once again he thinks throwing money at someone is going to make it better!" I exclaimed.
"It's my horse" a voice coming from behind made me jump a little. There stood Richard Callum's father.
"So he didn't lie for his stupid investment he lied for yours!" I yelled at the scary looking man.
Callum was by my side within a moment.
"Lets go Brooklyn" he said pulling me out of the room without waiting for a response. After settling on my bed we looked at each other for a moment before I looked away. I wasn't about to make a mistake with Callum, I was going to do this right.
"I was with my dad when he bought Ace" he said. I gasped.
"So when I was riding him early what exactly did you think?" I asked.
"I thought you knew the truth, I didn't know until you came back" he defended.
"You were with Pin" he stated after a few moments of silence.
"I needed help, Pin helped me a lot with Krieger back in London, it just made sense I asked him" I shrugged.
"Yeah right" Callum rolled his eyes standing from my bed.
"Callum wait!" I said jumping from the bed.
"I like you a lot" I started. I took his hand and put it on my waist. I pulled him closer until our noses were touching.
"I really like you" I smiled, I could feel the blush rising to my cheeks.
"Oh yeah?" He asked
"Yeah" I nodded. I stood on my tiptoes and pushed my lips against his. They melted together and everything felt right in that moment, thoughts about Ace and Krieger disappeared. My dad and Callum's dad became non existent and in that moment it was just us. It was perfect.

Callum caught me before I rode out for Krieger and my usual beach ride after our training.
"Hey!" He called to me. His helmet was in his hands and Zeus was being lead into the stable by a stablehand.
"Hi" I smiled at him.
"The night before regionals there's a dance" he started.
"I know" I nodded.
"I was wandering if you would be my date" he blushed rubbing the back of his neck.
"Are you asking me out on a date?" I asked.
"Yeah I am" He chuckled.
"If that's so then yes Callum I would love to be your date to the dance" I beamed.

As I galloped down the beach, everything seemed okay. My father and Blair had gone back to London. My mother was rarely home so it left more time for Callum to come over without my mom wanting to sit down and talk to him. I spotted Pin and Zoe riding along side each other.
"Hey guys" I smiled at them.
"You seem happy" Pin chuckled.
"Callum asked me to the regional dance" I blushed at the thought. Pin and Zoe went quiet.
"No congratulations or anything" I chuckled raising an eyebrow at the two of them.
"I'm going to leave you two to talk" Zoe mumbled.
Pin walked along side me, silence overtook is.
"What aren't you telling me?" I asked.
"You remember the day you slapped me, the graffiti?" He asked.
"Of course" I nodded.
"I did research, more like investigating I had help from Zoe but we snuck into James's office the night Callum was taken" he started.
"The jumper the graffiti artist wore is Callum's jumper, we had seen Susie wearing it when she was with Callum a while ago" he explained.
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"Callum is the one who graffitied Holloway" he concluded.
"No! He wouldn't do that!" I argued.
"Ask him Brooklyn, trust me I want to be wrong, but I don't think I am" He sighed. I'm not exactly sure when Pin left. I just looked out to the water lost in my thoughts. When I returned to the stables Callum had left, the stables were quiet. A few stable hands were finishing off with the horses, making sure they were rugged for the cold night ahead. I grabbed my car keys. I drove past my street and onto a gravel road. As I pulled up to the mansion. I didn't want to believe Pin but I had to ask, I needed the truth. We were meant to be leaving in three days and here I was accusing my team captain and probably maybe boyfriend of threatening me.i pressed the doorbell and Callum's mother answered the door.
"Brooklyn!" She smiled.
"Is Callum here?" I asked impatiently. She realised the tension and nodded.
"He's upstairs dear" she forced a tight lipped smile.
"Thank you" I nodded to her. I dashed up the stairs. I found his bedroom and knocked on the door. Callum answered the door wearing only jeans, his abs were on show and I had to look away so I didn't get distracted. His brown hair cling to his face after his shower.
"Hey" he smiled.
"Can we talk?" I asked.
"Yeah of course" he nodded. He pulled a black hoodie out from a drawer and pulled it over his head.
"What's wrong?" He asked. I took a seat on his bed and he followed me sitting close to me. His hand reached for mine but I pulled away quickly.
"Brooklyn what's the matter?" He asked.
"Did you do the graffiti?" I asked, my eyes began to well with tears.
"What?" He asked his eyes widened at my question.
"Please just answer the question" I begged wiping a tear away.
"No! I didn't!" He defended. I only nodded and went to pull him close to me but he pushed me away and stepped away.
"How could you think I did?" He asked.
"Pin, I saw him on the beach and he said all this stuff" I sobbed wiping away a few more tears.
"I didn't want to believe him, I just had to ask, I know you'd never lie to me" I forced a tight lipped smile at him and looked back at my boots.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and as I went to check who it was Callum spoke up.
"Is it Pin?" He asked. I looked at the caller ID and just as he said it was, he had sent me an attachment.
"No it's my mom, can you get me a glass of water?" I asked.
"Sure, I'll be back in a second" he smiled kissing my forehead before heading downstairs. I looked at the attachment, a photo of a similar figure to Callum's was wearing a grey hoodie. I heard Callum still walking down the stairs saying something to his mother. I took the time to quickly look through his room, luckily his mother colour coordinated his clothes. That women had way to much time on her hands. The bottom draw of his wardrobe was his grey clothes. Underneath his jeans and his v-neck shirts that I'm sure looked great on him. A grey hoodie fell out of the drawer. A red paint splatter was on its sleeve. I could tell his mom had tried washing it out but it was stained and still remained bright red.
"Let me explain" was all he had to say when he saw me sitting on the ground with the hoodie in my hands.
"Not only did you do it, but you just lied to my face about it" I shook my head.
"Let me explain Brooklyn!" He yelled.
"I just gave you a chance! To come clean and tell me!" I argued.
"You're just like everyone else, you lie" I said mockingly.
"You try so hard not to be your father, but Callum you're exactly like him" I rolled my eyes throwing the hoodie on the ground. I grabbed my phone from the bed and tried to walk past him but he grabbed my wrist before I could leave the room.
"Don't leave it like this" he mumbled, his eyes full of tears.
"There's nothing to leave, you mean nothing to me" I spat at him pulling my arm out of his grasp.

My father and Blair went back to London with Ace trying to find another trainer for him and Krieger and I continued training non stop over the last few days. I couldn't feel more confident about our potential win. My heart still mourned Callum, it didn't help seeing him everyday but I pushed past it. I couldn't let him be the reason we lose. I wouldn't let him.
