As I say by the jumping arena looking at the angles of the jumps, I couldn't help but feel nervously sick.
"Getting nervous Harris" Pin chuckled joining me.
"Never!" I rolled my eyes.
"You're going to do great" Pin tried to reassure me.
"Thanks" I mumbled watching a girl from another team ride the course. Her horse knocked down a pole after spooking at one of the flowers that was being pushed around by the wind. She had a great time finishing in 21.3 seconds but after pulling down one of the rails she wouldn't be winning today.
"Since when did they talk?" Pin asked looking towards Callum and Zoe.
"I don't know" I shrugged. I followed Pin towards the two of them. The only thing Callum and Zoe has in common were horses and Pin and I.
"Hey" Zoe smiled towards Pin and I.
"Hi" I gave her a tight lipped smile.
"You better go start tacking up" Pin said.
"I'll come with you" Callum offered taking my hand and pulling me towards the stable on the other side of the crowded lot.
"What were you and Zoe talking about?" I asked.
"If I tell you, I'm gonna have to kill you" he chuckled.
"Am I not allowed to talk to her now?" He asked.
"No of course not!" I defended.
"I just didn't realise you guys spoke" I shrugged.
"Well we do now" he said. An uncomfortable silence fell upon us.

I lead Krieger out of the stall, he was tacked up and ready to go. He snorted in excitement. Krieger loved showing off. He loved jumping and when he had a good attitude he could jump anything.
"Good boy" I smiled to him kissing him on the nose.
"Good luck Brooklyn" Ava called from a nearby stall, she wasn't alone. She stood with a tall boy with long brown hair, he had a sharp jawline and perfect pearly white teeth.
"Tell Callum, Jordan says hi" he chuckled. I rolled my eyes at the two and grabbed my helmet.
As I made my way to the end of the hall, I stood outside Jordan's stall.
"Ava look, I'm sorry for what I said, you hurt my feelings and I snapped back but there are no excuses for what I said, that was the old me and I'm sorry" I said apologetically.
"It's all forgotten" she shrugged.
"You were never my follower" I added.
"You're a great rider, trust me you were never my follower" I mumbled.
"Are you saying you were threatened by me?" She asked.
"Of course I was, everyone was" I nodded.
"Thank you" she smiled.
"Why are you apologising?" She asked.
"Because what I said was stupid and you deserve an apology" I explained.
"Good luck" she smiled at me.
"Thank you" I smiled back.
"Ready?" Callum called from the opening of the stable.
"Callum, buddy!" Jordan called towards him.
"Jordan stop" Ava rolled her eyes.
"Do I know you?" Callum asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Jordan Wells" Jordan said his eyes darkened at the question that Callum just asked.
"Yeah I don't know" Callum mumbled his eyes turned back to me.
"You have to go warm up" he said. I nodded and turned to Ava.
"Would you come watch?" I asked wanting her to get away from this Jordan guy.
"I'd love to" she nodded.
"Ava!" Jordan yelled offended by her disregard of him.
"Whatever" she rolled her eyes making her way out of the stall and following me towards Callum.
"Nice job" Ava winked at me nodding towards Callum. My cheeks flushed red and Callum chuckled.

I say mounted on Krieger, he eagerly snorted and stepped side to side ready to take the jumps. The girl before me was taking the last few oxers and she was sitting on 22 seconds. As she landed the final jump, the time had reached 23.4 seconds. This girl was the best ride of the day.
"Good job" I smiled at her. She nodded a thank you.
"Good luck" she called as we passed each other.

I spotted James, Ava, Callum, Gabby and Alex in the front row. Ava shot me a smile and I smiled back. I trotted Krieger into the arena, we circled the course twice before I squeezed my knees bringing Krieger into a soft canter. The first few jumps were nothing to him. As the course difficulty was raised I spotted the 260 degree turn we had to take within a couple of seconds my pulse quickened. The girl before me had been the only rider before me that hadn't knocked the jump. I tightened the reins and slowed Krieger's pace to a fast trot. He bounced off of the sand and I heard the soft clip of his hoof on the final pole. My breath hitched in my throat but I didn't turn around to see if it fell I pushed him into a fast canter and ride to the final jump a wide pool of water sat after a simple oxer jump. Krieger snorted and took the jump, we sat in the air for what felt like forever. We landed on the sand and Krieger nickered knowing he did the best we could've done. I turned to look at the second to last jump. The pole still sat perfectly on the jump. I released the deep breath of air and smiled. I wrapped my arms around Krieger's neck and turned to the time. 23.2 seconds was our time. I looked toward Pin who was mounted on his horse.
"Good luck" I smiled to him sharing a quick high five as we passed each other.
James was waiting for me as I slid off of Krieger's back.
"I'm so sorry, that jump was..." I started. James embraced me with a tight hug.
"You did really well Brooklyn" he smiled.
"Thank you" I smiled. Gabby and Alex pulled me into a group hug while I pulled off my helmet. Gabby took my helmet from my hands while Alex took Krieger's reins.
"Why are you guys..." I started before Callum arrived, taking my face in his hands and pulling me into a kiss. It wasn't a perfect kiss, it was awkward and caught me by surprise but once I realised what we were doing my lips moved with his. Callum quickly pulled away.
"I'm sorry.. I shouldn't have..." he started.
"Shut up" I rolled my eyes pulling him back into the kiss. We were pulled apart by my dad who cleared his throat. I quickly looked to my boots and cheekily smiled at my dad.
"You're lucky I'm too proud to be mad right now" he glared at Callum and I. I smiled and nodded.
"You did so well!" Blair smiled.
"Thank you" I nodded the first time really acknowledging her.
"So London?" He asked. I nodded.
"What about London?" James and Callum both asked at the same time. Gabby and Alex as well as James and Callum had confused looks on their faces.
"Krieger is an Olympic potential, I have to go to London and get a new horse" I explained.
"But nationals!" Gabby exclaimed.
"I'm going to be ready for nationals" I nodded.
"Can you promise that with a new horse?" James asked.
"Is this what you were talking to Pin about?" Callum asked. I nodded in response.
"You can't build a bond with a horse within six weeks!" James said.
"We don't know if we're going to nationals yet" I said pointing to Pin who had just cleared the course and was coming towards us. I looked at his time 23.4 seconds.
"Yes we do" Callum mumbled. For a team who had just found out they're going to a national competition we were very silent.
"We leave for London tomorrow" my dad told me leaving the 5 of us to an awkward silence.

The win was a bit of a blur. I didn't remember much of it. All the horses were loaded onto the trailer. While the four of us piled into my SUV. Gabby turned on Kanye West's 'I thought about killing you' 'real subtle Gabby' I thought.
I dropped Alex and Gabby off at Holloway. No words had been spoken. Callum jumped into the front seat and once again we sat in complete silence.
"I'm going to London tomorrow" I started as I pulled into the car.
"Cool" he mumbled.
"I'll be back by Tuesday" I added. He nodded and opened the car door.
"Callum!" I said sternly catching his attention.
"Please don't ignore me!" I begged.
"There's nothing to say!" He yelled.
"What is the point of this! I can't ever compete with Pin" he chuckled sarcastically to himself shaking his head.
"I don't want Pin!" I defended.
"I didn't kiss Pin, Callum, I kissed you" I said.
"I kissed you!" He corrected.
"If I wanted Pin, I would've pushed you away" I explained.
"Am I just convenient for you?" He asked.
"Get out!" I yelled.
"Brooklyn" He started.
"Get out!" I repeated.
After he reluctantly got out of the car I zoned out for the drive home. My mom was at Elliot's for the night, my dad and Blair were at the hotel in town. I ran upstairs into the comfort of my bedroom. The house was quiet and the only sound that ran through the house was of my sobs. Is that what everyone thought? I was just conveniently liking and crying over Callum?
After crying a lot over Callum, I replaced the clothes in my suitcase and began packing for London and if I was lucky enough I wouldn't come back.
