I grabbed my suitcase and placed it in the back of my SUV. My mom didn't want to say goodbye so she stayed at Elliot's for the night and told me to call her every night.
"You packed a lot for a few days" my dad chuckled.
"What can I say? I have a lot of stuff" I shrugged.
We headed to Holloway my dad followed behind me. I noticed a familiar black truck in the driveway.
FERGUSON EQUINE CENTRE
Was printed on the side. I spotted Krieger wearing a blue cotton blanket that had
Ferguson Equine Centre
Printed on the side.
Jamie had short blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She was in her 40's.

A lot of riders crowded around her and Krieger asking a million questions.
"Brooklyn! Darling!" She smiled walking through the crowd and pulling me into a hug.
"Hi Jamie" I nodded.
"Do me a favour love and help me load him in?" She asked.
I stood there for a moment refusing.
"Brooklyn?" She asked.
"Brooklyn help her" my dad encouraged. I looked at him wanting him to take my side.
"Please dear?" Jamie asked. I knew there was nothing I could do about the situation, my refusing would only inevitably hurt Krieger. I nodded and walked towards the gelding.
"Hey boy" I smiled at him rubbing his neck.
"Come on" I said circling him a few times before leading him into the large trailer. I tied him in.
"You're going to be so great" I sobbed.
"I love you so much, you're going to be a good boy, okay" I said softly.
"You're going to be a champion and win a lot more trophies" I whispered my voice going quiet. Krieger nickered and rested his nose in my palm. I wrapped my arms around the greys neck one last time.
"I love you" I said softly resting a kiss on his nose. I exited out of the small side door and made sure to lock it. I wiped away the tears on my cheeks.
"Thanks darling, I'll see you in London"she called wrapping me up in a hug and leaving me to face my dad. I watched the trailer pull out of the driveway and I asked myself if I had done the right thing.
"I'll see you on Tuesday?" James asked.
"Yeah" I nodded. I couldn't let down the team.
"Good" he nodded and headed back to his office. Gabby sent a kind smile my way before releasing her horse out into the arena. Alex followed behind her. Callum was leading Zeus out to the cross country course but he didn't even look at me.
"Can we go?" I asked.
"How about I drive your dads car and your dad drives with you?" Blair asked.
"Already sick of him?" I asked, my voice finally finding itself. Blair forced a smile and my dad just looked down.
"Come on, road trip just like the old times" my dad smiled.
"We never went on a road trip?" I questioned him.
"Come on" he called getting into the passenger seat of my car.
"Yay" I rolled my eyes at Blair who only giggled.

As I drove my dad corrected me on everything. 'Brooklyn slow down!' 'Don't turn here!' 'You're putting the turn signal on to early!' After a while my dad fell asleep as we pulled up onto the ferry. I spotted Krieger's trailer a few cars up and Jamie waved at me. I looked away, the temptation of sneaking into the trailer and never leaving Krieger's side again had come to mind a lot more then a few times. The rest of the car ride was full of my dads snoring. I noticed the city coming into view. I did miss London, it had been my home since forever. Nationals was held in London so I knew I'd be back soon.
"Welcome back to London!" He yawned waking up from his long nap.
"Since when did you sleep on car rides" I chuckled.
"My medication makes me sleepy" he yawned again.
"What medication?" I asked.
"Medication to keep me good looking" he joked.
"Well they're failing there" I giggled. I knew my dad changed the subject because he didn't want to talk about it, but I'd get it out of him somehow.
We pulled up to our old house. The large windows and the big front door swung open. Maria, our house keeper who had been working for us since I was born beamed at the sight of me.
"Miss Brooklyn!" She gushed pulling me into a tight hug. I guess she was a second mother to me since I was little.
"Hi Maria" I smiled hugging her.
"I have your bedroom set up" she said pulling me into the house.
"What happened to my bedroom?" I asked.
"Miss Blair set it up as her wedding planning room, but don't you worry I moved it all into the upstairs study" she explained.
"There are 9 bedrooms!" I exclaimed.
"She said your bedroom had the best planning inspiration" she said.
"What the hell does that even mean?" I asked.
"I don't know" she shrugged.
I opened my bedroom door and everything was still the same. On the back of my bedroom door were the small lines Maria drew showing my growth from when I was little. I ran my hand down the small lines, a habit I had done a lot. Trophies, medals and ribbons were spread around the room, I had been so proud of myself. There were photos of every horse I had ever ridden on a big pin board that took up most of my wall. I had always thought Krieger would be the last and final horse on my pin board but he wouldn't be now. I ran my finger over the photo.
"I'm so sorry" Maria said softly putting her arm around my shoulder.
"I'm fine" I mumbled.
"What did I say about burying your feelings?" She asked.
"Why is my dad on medication?" I asked. Maria stayed silent.
"What did I say about secrets?" I asked.
"Good try Miss Brooklyn, you need to talk to your father" she said softly laying a kiss on my cheek before hurrying out of the room. I took a seat on my queen bed and looked up at the ceiling. London didn't feel like home anymore, it felt like the past. I didn't think I wanted to be stuck in the past anymore. I fell asleep from the long drive and the emotional exhaustion I felt.
