Nationals was only two days away. I was getting nervous. The stables were buzzing, Janette had us training more then I thought was healthy. London was buzzing with excitement.
"Let's go girls!" Janette yelled from the sidelines as we lined our horses up across from her.
"Go cool down the horses and meet me in my office in 30 minutes!" She demanded. We all broke off beginning the walk back to the stables.
"Brooklyn!" Ava called catching up to King and I.
"Hey" I forced a smile.
"We haven't spoken much over the past week" she started.
"Yeah sorry, everything's been crazy" I said waving my hands in the air.
"How's your mom?" She asked.
"She's a lot better, she should be driving down tomorrow" I smiled.
"You don't hate me do you?" She asked. I pulled King up and looked at her.
"What?" I asked.
"Just the rumours about me and the stablehand have spread like wild fire" she rolled her eyes.
"Ava, Whatever or whoever you do is up to you, as your friend I want you to be happy and whatever choices you make I'm gonna stand by you no matter what" I shrugged.
"Thanks Brooklyn" she smiled.
"Anytime" I smiled back.

A rear came from up ahead and Milly a girl I had only known for the first few weeks tumbled off her horse. Ava and I shared a worried glance and we hurried to the girls side.
"Are you okay?" I asked helping her up. She cried as she rested her right ankle on the ground.
"It's my ankle!" She cried out in pain. Ava and I looped her arms over our shoulders as we began to help her back to the stables.
"Oh god! Janettes going to kill me!" She cried.
"It might not be as bad as it seems" I shrugged.
"I can't walk Brooklyn!" She cried.
Ava and I rested Milly on the sofa in the tack room, placing a pillow under her ankle.
"Okay Milly, I'm going to try and take off your boot" I started.
"It's going to hurt isn't it?" She asked.
"Probably" I shrugged.
As I began to pull on her boot, Milly began to cry out in pain.
"Pull it off!" Ava yelled. I nodded and took one last hard tug at her boot and I fell backwards. Milly's ankle was already beginning to swell.
"What the hell happened!" Janette yelled making me jump. Ava and I stood back silently while Janette looked as if she was going to explode.

After helping Milly into the ambulance, Ava and I hurried to Janettes office where the rest of the team was sitting. Janette was scanning the rule book looking for a way to find another rider.
"Brooklyn, you will be riding in Milly's place for her showjumping" Janette ordered.
"Chapter 81 section 4 states that a rider can ride in two events if the events are on seperate days" Janette explained.
"I can help you practice" Ava offered. I nodded.
"Thanks".

After two hours of learning the course and getting King used to the jumps. Grace and Ava spent the time practicing with me, since we were riding the showjumping event. After three laps of the course, Grace continued to push King and I for another lap.
"Let's go!" She yelled.
"I'm not going to overwork my horse Grace, I'm sorry but he needs a break and so do we" I said pointing to Ava's horse who seemed as if he would collapse any minute. Ava and I wiped beads of sweat off of our foreheads.
"Fine, but if we lose nationals!" She warned.
"We won't!" Ava snapped. Leading her horse towards the exit of the arena, I followed close behind.
