April 15, 1912

The ship had sank. The mighty Titanic, who was said to be unsinkable, was proven to be far from so. She hit an iceberg and plunged to the bottom of the ocean over the course of 2 hours and 40 minutes. And now, the lifeboats were carrying the known surviving passengers through a sea of bodies frozen to death, searching for anymore who may still be alive.

Rose lay on a piece from the Grand Staircase, her hair frozen to the wood, singing softly as her lover, Jack, bobbing in the water, sleeping peacefully as he held her hand. She stared ahead at the night sky, that was filled with millions of brightly shining stars in the pale moonlight. It would have been beautiful if not for the tragedy that was beheld.

Suddenly, she heard a voice calling out in the distance. Rose turned her head to see a boat looking for more survivors. She turned to Jack, who was still asleep. "Jack," she whispered softly. She touched his shoulder with her free hand, it felt like ice. Jack wasn't responding. Rose turned his face towards her, it was rimmed with frost. "Jack," she repeated, then twice more. "Jack, there's a boat." But Jack still wasn't responding, he was still fast asleep. That was when it hit Rose. Jack wasn't asleep.

"Jack!" Rose exclaimed, then she said softer, "Come back," her voice cracking with sadness. Out in the distance, the search boat was getting closer. "Come back," Rose repeated. "Come back." It was all she could say, over and over again, "Come back." The search boat was coming closer. It was time for Rose to say goodbye to Jack. She held his hand close. "I won't let go," she said, "I promise." She kissed his hand, and released him. As the search boat found her and she was loaded on, Rose watched the man she loved drift further and further down, until he was out of sight, down to the bottom of the sea.
