Cooking Up The Perfect Feelings (Zane x Cole)

Just another day in Ninjago. That's all to it really, unless you look a little closer.

Cole was walking in the mall when the sweet aroma of cake filled his nose. When he found the source, he was disappointed that it wasn't chocolate cake but vanilla. He sighed until he got an idea. Finding the nearest store, he bought the ingredients and went back to the Bounty to start cooking.

Little did he know, his frosty friend was in the kitchen making lunch. "Hey Zane. Mind if I use the kitchen after you finish?" Cole asked. The two look into each others eyes for a good five minutes. Then Zane broke the silence. "Very well. But by the time you finish, could you please clean up and not burn the kitchen down like two weeks ago." He says.

Cole nods. "Anything for you, Frosty!" He said with a smile. Zane looked at Cole in confusion but blinked it off and took the lunch to the dining room. After having lunch, Cole couldn't help but feel even happier whenever Zane was around.

Zane on the other hand was surprised with how Cole had acted. "He isn't like this usually. Maybe he's thinking of someone special to him." He said to himself. Zane found himself thinking about how tomorrow was Cole's birthday. 'Perhaps I should bake him a cake like every year.' He thought.

Cole got started with following the instructions on the box. Putting in the flour turned him white like a ghost. Flour was everywhere and Cole just shrugged like it was normal. The oven dinged signaling the preheat was ready. Sliding the cake pan full of his chocolate cake batter, he smiled as he closed the oven door.

Zane sat in his room meditating when someone knocked on ththe door. "Come in." Zane says. The door opens revealing Lloyd and Kai holding hands. "Hello Kai, Lloyd. What brings you to my bedroom?" He asked.

Kai nudged Lloyd and nodded. "We uh, wanted to know if you could help us set up a date." Lloyd says. "I know you two are together but, don't you suppose Jay and Nya would know how to set up a date?" Zane questioned.

"Right. The thing is, they're actually out right now and you seemed like the next best candidate. Please help us. We'll even help you win over Cole's heart. Everyone has seen the way you two are always talking and even training together." Kai says.

Zane seemed surprised. "So that was what I felt every time I was around Cole? Love?" Kai and Lloyd nodded. "It took me a while to confess to Kai but I'm still surprised he said yes. I thought he was going to yak my ear off that I should be straight but it turns out that he liked me as much as I did of him." Lloyd said.

"Very well. I will help you two if you help me understand my love for Cole." Zane says standing up. Kai and Lloyd high five and they got to work. But Kai and Lloyd were actually tricking Zane into making the date for him and Cole.

"Ah, boy do I love chocolate lava cake. Really hit the spot." Cole says with a sigh. He looked around the kitchen and realized that he promised Zane that he'd clean up. At least he didn't burn down the kitchen this time. Cole gets up and starts with the dishes he used.

He was already tired when he finished washing dishes and groans looking at the flour caked kitchen. Chocolate and flour and a bunch of other ingredients were scattered around the kitchen. Grabbing the bleach from the closet where they kept all the cleaning supplies (and even more bleach because Zane likes to keep his whites pure) and drizzled some on the kitchen floor.

He uses the mop and after 4 hours of on and off cleaning, Cole finally finished the kitchen. "As long as I have cake and a happy Zane, my life is complete." Cole mumbled heading to his room, exhausted. He falls asleep three minutes flat and nothing would wake him up for the next six to eight hours.

This was good for the three that were prepping the date. Even when Zane was under the idea that it was for Kai and Lloyd, he worked hard. They decorated the guest room with fairy lights of soft white and black glows. Kai hung heart lights on the table while Lloyd had chosen a bouquet of Black Magic Hollyhock and Moonflower.

Finding a flower store that grew and sold these weren't easy. But Lloyd wanted Zane and Cole to have the best first date ever. Zane glanced at the bouquet and smiled. "Those flowers remind me of Cole. Perhaps I could do something similar for his birthday cake decorations." Zane said to himself.

By morning, everything was ready. Zane finished the cake and concealed its aroma so Cole would not become suspicious. Carefully, he took the icing and wrote "Happy Birthday Cole! Love Zane." And placed the fondant flowers around the message.

Cole wakes up refreshed and immediately went out to the deck to stretch. He heard footsteps and then saw Zane in his peripheral vision. "Hey Frosty. How you doing?" He asked. "Cole, would you please follow me?" Zane asked.

"Sure." Cole says following the nindroid to the guest room. The first thing Cole realized was the scent of flowers and not food. "You growing a garden, Zane? Can I help you out with it?" Cole asked. Zane opens the door and Cole gasped in surprise.

"Do you not like it?" Zane asked. Cole shook his head. "Kai and Lloyd helped me and it was when we finished that they helped me create this for you. Happy birthday, Cole." Zane says hugging Cole. Leading him to the table, Cole sits down and Zane sat across from him.

"Frosty, I mean Zane, thank you. No one has ever done this for me before. The last time I had something like this was with my mom." Cole chokes out. Zane watches as tears fell from Cole's face and placed his hand on Cole's.

"I did this for you because I love you. Now, shall we have dessert?" Zane says with a smirk. Cole chuckled and Zane revealed the perfectly decorated cake. "I baked my feelings into it. I've been told that doing so makes it taste better." He says.

Cole takes a slice and his first bite was a big one. His face lit up like never before. Zane smiled at Cole's reaction. "It tastes even better than the chocolate lava cake I made yesterday. Thank you Zane. I love you too." Cole says taking another bite of his cake. Zane chuckles and the two enjoyed the other's company.
