The Best and the Hardest Thing

Chapter 14

We drove to the bank were I moved my money from my account into casey's as I knew my mother would shut it down if I didn't act fast enough. Anyway it would be easier for casey to locate us as I had left my phone at the house.

I needed to grab my hospital documents for the baby at caseys home so I thought it would be safe to take the siblings there just for ten minutes as I packed my belongings and got the necessary documents. As I reached the driveway, there were two cop cars and no sign of caseys car. I began to weep into my steering wheel fearing the worst.

I unstrapped Lilly and carried her into the house with Jack in tow.

"baby, where have you been?" casey screamed with joy as he came running towards me.

"Are you Dana Wilson?" a police officer questioned me

"yes, yes I am I replied" putting Lily down who then went to play with Lucy

"can we please talk in the kitchen please" he responded

I nodded and led the way.

"we have your mother in custody, but we need the main events of what occurred at your residence of 1419 Westwood blvd" he said speaking into the voice recorder

I told him what happened and he thanked me for his time before leaving.

I was sitting in the kitchen, staring at the wall and Casey's touch startled me.I looked at him and smiled.

"mum said that you can all stay here for along as you'd like" he said looking into my eyes before pulling me up for a hug.

"I thought something happened to you back there, when I couldn't see you, I panicked and all I could do was the drive...I'm so sorry" I cried pulling away from him. But all he did was pull me back in and hold me tighter.

"I'm sorry"I sobbed into his shirt

"I was fine honestly" he answered before kissing my forehead. He told me about how he locked the gates before a U turn through the courtyard onto the 3 acres of woodland we owned until the cops arrived. His car was seized as it was unfit for driving on the road following the bullets to the tyres.

At lunch, we all sat for soup and sandwiches to which everyone swallowed down hungrily following the wild morning we had encountered. I then helped collete clean up.

"Dana, come here I want to show you something" collete said pulling my arm.

She took me to her car, we buckled our seats and drove down the road. She came to halt infront of a beautiful large family home.

"this used to be my mothers home..I wanted to give it to Casey on his wedding day but today couldn't be a better day" she said grinning

"wow, are you sure?" I questioned her

" absolutely, let's go inside" she said as she got out the car. I followed her walking through the front door.

I was gobsmacked everything was fabulous, the living room had a fireplace, which I could imagine me and casey cuddling up-to in the late hours of the night. We then went up stairs and noticed each room had an en suite.

We then came to a door at the end of the corridor and collete turned to grin at me as she opened the door. In the middle of the room stood a beautiful bassinet. I began to tear up just then a voice made me jump.

"Honey I'm home!" casey yelled walking through the front door. I ran down and jumped into his arms and kissed him passionately.

"I love you" I yelled causing an echo ripple through the house which made me giggle.

That night we went out to an Italian restaurant for dinner to celebrate my pregnancy, when we got back, I tucked Lily to bed. Then read her, the caterpillar book which she nodded off to after 2pages. I kissed her forehead and turned off the lights to her guest room.

I walked back to our room to find jack and casey at loggerheads playing COD.

"boys bed!" I said sternly knowing they probably won't listen

"okay mom" casey replied, I playfully hit is arm and grabbed a towel.

"game goes off straight after I finish my shower, understood? Jack has school tomorrow and it's already 10" I informed them whilst heading to the bathroom. I had the fastest shower of my life then brushed my teeth before applying my night lotions and inserting my sleeping mouthguard. I look through my bags and grab a pink nightie and a sleeping gown. I tie my hair into ponytail and walk into the room, to find jack and casey packing away. As jack leaves the room I follow him to his guest room,

"jack, we will be fine, understand?" I say gently

He nods his head and smiles

"I Know I dont say it much but I love you sis" he says sheepishly

I pull him for a hug and whisper "I love you too" before giving him a peck on the cheek then turning to return to my

Room with casey.

We were just about to fall asleep when I heard a cry from Lilys room, I got up to check on her. She told me she missed mum, I didn't know what to say so I carried her to our room next door and positioned her between me and casey and stroked her hair to sleep.

" you'll be such a great mum" casey whispered into the cool air making me grin. He then leant up on his elbow and kissed me gently which I then responded too. We heard a muffle between us and so broke apart giggling..we then fell asleep and everything felt right.
