Dinner was so scrumptious collete was an amazing chef. Even lily who's the fussiest eater finished all her dinner with no complaint except from the odd moments were she'd ask me to cut her turkey or potatoes. For dessert we had some peach cobbler,apple pie,pumpkin pie and red velvet cake as it was my favourite. Collete was sweet enough that she bought some non-alcoholic champagne which I could also enjoy since I was pregnant.
"okay, since we didn't have a proper thanksgiving this year i thought we would take the time today, to say what we are thankful for. so who would like to start?" collete began.
Carlie started then, Caseys parents then soon enough it was caseys turn.
"Okay I want to begin by saying I'm thankful for my parents as they have both been there for me when I've needed them and given me a wonderful start in life and I'm very fortunate and proud to have you as my mum and dad. Secondly, Im thankful for all my siblings and soon will be siblings.
And finally I'm thankful for you, Dana you have stood by me through a lot of decisions since we got together. You agreed to make me the happiest man in the world by agreeing to marrying me because you have a natural way that makes every day a joy to be with you.I don't have to hope that our future together will be a happy one, because I know it will be,every day I wake up to find that I love you twice as much more than the day before and I have no doubt you will be a terrific mother to our child. For whom I'm also thankful for" he smiled. I sat happily crying. When he sat down, I leant over to kiss him next to me and he wiped my tears away and kissed my forhead.
It was now my turn.
"Firstly I'm thankful for collete and James for making me feel so welcome in the butler family. I feel like I've been a part of your family forever and thank you for taking me, and my siblings in as your own-as not many people would ever do that. So I am very thankful for family.
Oh Casey, Casey Casey- you do have a way with words. But I'm thankful for that because You're my hope, my spirit and my guide. You've stuck by me through some really tough times, and some of my best memories are of times spent with you. This might sound like a cliché, but you truly did make me the happiest girl in the world when you asked me to marry you, and I can honestly say that I'd proud to be standing here now as Mrs Butler-which i know i will be doing very soon. I know that life won't always be a bed of roses, but I can only promise you now that, whatever it tries to throw at us, I'll always be there by your side,and i know for certain you will be the best daddy to our little bundle of joy! Finally I'm very thankful for this little bubba as I can't wait for all the sleepless nights and dirty diapers as I know they would all be worth it"
"lily anything you want to say?" collete asked her as she dried her tears as i sat down.
"I'm thankful for........" she was thinking hard about her thankfulness
"CATERPILLARS, COOPER AND MY PRESENTS!" she bellowed which made us all laugh.
