It was the day that Jade and her boyfriend had planned to come over for dinner. As it was a Saturday Casey was not at work and we had a lie in with our son Jayden who slept in-between us.
It was around 9:30am when I eventually woke up; I pulled on my gown and made sure the Jayden wasn’t overly covered in blankets. I entered the kitchen and turned on the coffee machine as I pulled out some breakfast waffles from the fridge. I cut some strawberries and washed some blueberries and served it with the waffles and an even spreading of syrup. I made both Casey and I a cup of coffee and put it on a tray ready to take upstairs. Just as I was cleaning up, a sonogram on the fridge that we had received the day we found out Jayden was our little boy caught my eye and a smile spread upon my lips. I didn’t realise at the time but my hand was gently rubbing the remainder of my baby bump remembering the conversation I’d had with my husband about having another baby. I pinned the picture back up and grabbed the tray making my way up the stairs.
“What else do we need” Casey asked scanning the aisles of Costco.
“Diapers, tinned tomato, chips and chocolate” I answered cheerily
“Chocolate? Are you being utterly serious?”
“What? mommy’s need energy to run after little widdle babies aint that right Jay Jay” I gushed playing with Jayden’s little feet. Casey chuckled and put his arm around me kissing my forehead. After we finished shopping, Casey drove us to applebee’s where we enjoyed a proper family lunch. Except from when Jayden began to cry for a feeding and we moved to a table at the corner that was more or less private so I could breastfeed. Jayden decided to make lunch his feast of the day meaning I had to eat whilst feeding. I got a few odd looks here and there but I didn’t care.
It was one hour before Jade was due to come over with her boyfriend. Kindly, Casey’s mom made us a lasagne and chocolate mousse for dessert before she left on her summer holiday’s with james the previous day. Luckily someone in our family could cook since I was a hopeless chef.
We gave Jayden a bath and got him dressed in a cute pyjama set that we bought that morning since he was growing rapidly. We took turns having showers. Casey went in first so I could feed Jayden and burp him then once he’d finished. I jumped in speedily, washing my hair which turned back into an afro. I then straightened my hair and applied my makeup all the meanwhile as Casey watched me playing with Jayden’s teddy. The doorbell went and I gave myself the once over in the floor length mirror. I chose to wear a turquoise peplum dress with a pair of beige patent heels. I walked down the stairs to find Casey cradling jayden in his arms, waiting at the bottom step. He looked so gorgeous, his hair was slightly wet and and left drips on his white t-shirt which started to reveal his muscles.
I took Jayden in my arms and gave Casey a peck on the cheek. We walked to the door and opened it just as the bell went once more. Both Casey and I gasped in shock. Jade’s new boyfriend proved to be none other than Chris.
Casey put an arm around me just as jayden began to fuss.
“Hey, do come in” I muttered weakly with a false smile. Once everyone was in the living room, I called casey out to the kitchen.
“Don’t make a scene” I warned
“I have the right fucking mind to knock him out” he whispered as anger built up in him.
“for what?”
“if it weren’t for him, Danielle would have never have come round and pushed you the way she did until she made you go into labor” he breathed angrily “what if I wasn’t home D? huh? What would I fucking do if I lost you and our son?
“don’t think like that, im here..always”
“really? What he makes and advance on you?”
“ a snog in the shed wont hurt would it?”
