The Best and the Hardest Thing

Chapter 16

The weeks went by pretty fast following caseys outburst. Everyone stopped gossiping in the fear that they may be next.

Jade never bothered me and everything was running smoothly. It was the day of graduation/prom and I had to empty my locker and return some books. I had to see the counsellor as I still hadn't found out which uni. would be attending due to the change of address.

"morning ms. Laffoley" I said knocking on the counsellors door.

"ah Dana, just the person I wanted to see, here's your SATs results and Uni letter" she said with delight. I opened the letters on the spot and realised I was accepted to UWLA it's a private university very close to my old house both casey and I had applied to go there and he had got in, it was a school of law as we both wanted to barristers. I then opened my SATS

I started screaming hysterically I scored an overwhelming 2350 which meant if I wanted to I would have possibly got into havard. Casey was elected valedictorian as he was the straight A student who had the highest SATs.

I thanked the counsellor before heading to my locker to collect my cap and gown. Casey's parents would be attending the ceremony, however my parents wanted my opinion of whether they should. Prior to the incident that occurred in the previous weeks. My mother had been diagnosed as suffering from depression, and by her kids been taken away she tipped the wagon. she wrote me a letter and told me how apologetic she was, I told her she can come to the graduation but it still doesn't mean I want to reconcile just yet.

After leaving school I drove to Lily's daycare and decided to take her home early, cooper was sick so she spent her time reading in the corner with her friend emily. I carried her to the car and strapped her in. My mom had sent me my phone in the post with the letter and some books I had left behind. I pulled it out of my purse and rang casey.he answered after five rings.

"goodmorning gorgeous" he said

"hey babe, me and lily were just about to head to the mall and thought you might wanna join us in say an hour?" I asked

"sure, I have some errands to sort, so I'll see you later, I love you" he replied before hanging up. He's been acting strangely lately, late nights on his laptop, secret phone calls and mystery journeys to the mall.

Once at the mall, both lily and i went dress shopping for my prom dress. I tried on several dresses but all of them felt uncomfortable until a navy dress caught my eye, I tried it on and it was a perfect fit, I absolutely loved how it flattered my slowly growing bump.

"you look pweety D" lily muttered as she stared at me gawping. I smiled and got changed back into my jeans and hoodie. Lily tried on some clothes and they all looked adorable so I bought them all including my dress.

As we sat at the food court eating our chips and sipping on strawberry milkshakes, lily jumped out of her seat and ran to the other side of the court. The place was really crowded so I jumped and yelled her name, I started panicking before I noticed she was been carried by casey who was then walking towards me. I sighed feeling relieved.

"don't you ever do that ever again, understood?" I said sternly.

She nodded and placed her head on caseys shoulder. Casey sat down and pulled Lily's tray towards himself and she ate sitting on his lap. I shared my chips with casey, I told him the good news about my SATs and UWLA. He nearly jumped out of his seat overjoyed and knocked Lily's empty cup out of her hand. He gave me a kiss before standing up and taking the shopping bags and placing them in Lily's hands and picking her up, he then held out his hand for me, we walked out happily to the car park where he set the bags in my trunk whilst I strapped Lily in. He gave me a peck on the cheek before running towards his brand new truck.

Once at home, we got dressed in our gowns and got in Casey's truck. Jack was already home and collete informed me she'll bring them after she collected Lucy from ballet. We drove to school for the last time being seniors because we knew in less than two hours we would be high school graduates.
