"We're gonna go back to learning something you all should remember from your previous math classes... solving quadratic equations" my math teacher spoke at the front of the class. I sat in my seat close to the back of the class fiddling with my pencil, waiting to copy the notes on the board whenever he starts
I'm not too good of a listener when it comes to learning so I usually just do my own thing until he starts writing the notes. My phone vibrated on my desk so I picked it up and saw a text message from Kentrell
"So you fuckin' with my boy now?" A voice asked, causing me to look behind me. It was boomer
"I wouldn't say all of that. I barely know him"
"Mhhhh"
I arched up my left eyebrow "What?"
"Nothin" boomer responded with a chuckle then started paying attention to the teacher again. I kept a look of suspicion on my face while I faced the front, wondering what he said that for
After a while we finally started practicing problems and wrote notes, making the class go by faster, and before I knew it the bell rung for us to go home.
"Before you guys leave make sure you pick up a homework packet at the door. They will be due Monday" the teacher informed us causing everybody to groan. I packed my things back into my bookbag and started to exit the class as I got a text from Dana

Ima be late
I sighed and exited out of her message before leaving the class. When Dana said that she was gonna be late, I knew that meant she was somewhere being a hoe. Probably with the coworker of hers that she talks about all the time. Just as I made it out of the school building, I accidentally bumped into some girl
"My bad" I apologized but instead of accepting it, the girl just glared at me then rolled her eyes
"Watch where you going"
"I just said my bad. Be lucky I said that" I retorted before walking off, leaving the girl while she started talking shit. I wasn't in the mood for other people's shit right now, especially since I'm gonna be sitting at this school for God knows how long waiting on Dana
I sat down on one of the benches outside and pulled out my phone. If I was gonna sit out here I might as well find something to do to occupy me
"Noel" I could hear boomer's voice call out. I looked around for him and spotted him in the crowd of people that had just exited the building. I stood up and walked over to him
"You forgot ya' paper"
He reached out a worksheet and I grabbed it from him
"Oh gosh, thank you! I got distracted by my phone"
"I bet so.. but you know ima look out fa' you since you fuck with my brother now"
I laughed and shook my head
"Big B!" A voice called out from a distance making us both look. It was his homeboy baby joe. I don't have any classes with baby Joe but he wasn't afraid to approach me on my first day
Standing along with baby joe and a group of guys was Kentrell. He was leaned against his car looking over at Boomer and I then motioned for me to come over so I did. I might as well go over and talk to him since Dana wasn't gonna be here any time soon
"Why you ain' text me back?" Kentrell immediately asked while he snuck his arm around my waist as I walked up to him
"I was taking notes. Dang, I can't get a Hey first"
