Despite it being her day off, Lauren was still up on her feet and moving around the house. Camila, meanwhile, was playing with her toys while the oldest Jauregui finished up the chores of the day, sitting on the couch afterward with a tired sigh. Checking the time, she sat up, telling herself that dinner needed to be made. "Hey Mila, what would you like for dinner?"
"Chocowate chip cookies!" Mila replied. Lauren chuckled. "You know those don't count," Mila pouted. "I want cookies, Lolo!" she insisted. "Tell you what. We make cookies for dessert instead, and I'll order pizza?"
And just like that, Camila was on board with the idea. Lauren quickly ordered pizza for the two of them to share, pulling up a recipe for chocolate chip cookies on her phone. The two put on matching aprons, Camila practically bouncing on her toes with excitement while the older girl grabbed the ingredients.
It took her a minute to get everything into smaller bowls before grabbing a larger mixing bowl.
"Okay, Mila, can you put this in the mixing bowl?"
Lauren handed over the measured sugar to Camila, who took it in her small hands and plopped the whole sugar container into the bowl. Lauren shook her head with a laugh. "Not the whole thing, Nugget," she ruffled her sister's head and grabbed the container that was covered in the other ingredients, dumping into the sink.
Next, Camila cracked the eggs with her sister's help, the first one falling to the ground, and the second attempt resulted in the shells falling into the bowl. Both were cleaned up quickly and Lauren then grabbed the stand mixer. Camila was mesmerized by the device, watching with wonder in her eyes as the handle just kept going round and round, mixing the ingredients.
They scooped out the dough onto a sheet pan once the dough was done mixing. Camila sneakily licked the excess dough on her hand, making a grab for more from the mixing bowl, but Lauren was quick to grab wipes to clean the girl's hands, making the little one frown.
"Just wait until the ones in the oven are done. They'll be even better," Lauren promised. Camila nodded her head meekly.
Lauren cleaned up the kitchen just as the pizza arrived.
Meanwhile, Camila ran to Lauren's room to grab her sister's stuffed animal Nala off her bed she toddled back, handing the stuffed animal to her sister, who set the pizza down on the living room coffee table. "Looks like you want to watch The Lion King," the young girl nodded eagerly.
"Are the cookie's done?" The girl said glancing at the kitchen
"Not yet, almost though," Lauren replied as she went to grab the movie off of their Blu-Ray collection, putting the disk into the player as Camila snuck into the kitchen to check on the cookies, hastily making a grab for the oven door when she felt her body being lifted up by her sister. "Camila, the cookies aren't done yet! You could've gotten hurt." Lauren scolded lightly.
Her sister pouted. "The cookies will be done soon, okay? Now, let's eat dinner and watch the movie. The timer will go off and tell when it's ready." Mila sighed in defeat. "Okay," she mumbled.
Halfway through the film, Lauren set the now baked cookies out to cool. "Are they done now?" Camila asked as she tried to reach for one.
"No, not yet," Lauren said, making Mila whine impatiently.
"Hey, no whining, you wanna go on a timeout?"
"NO!" Camila panicked.
"Then, don't whine and wait. The cookies should be cool by the time the movie is done."
Camila pouted as she tried to reach for the baked treat once more, which lead her to be put on a timeout.
Lauren knelt down in front of the girl. "Now, what do you say?
"I sorry, Lolo" Camila looked at her with sad eyes, wiping away at her tears.
"It's okay, you wanna cookie?"
Camila nodded her head vigorously as Lauren took her hand and they went back into the kitchen, where they enjoyed the sweet treat.
