The Jauregui sisters' had established a sort of daily rhythm. Lauren would drop off Camila at school, then go to work, pick her up after school, and then they both head home or run errands before having dinner together. That was their plan every day except for weekends and they both didn't mind the system. Until one, crisp, autumn day.
Morning rolled around and Lauren woke up Camila promptly at 6:00 am. "Nugget, time to wake up," Camila got up, her eyes still closed. "I don't wanna be awake," "Well, hate to break it to you but you have school, and I have work to report to, as usual, so we better get going," Lauren insisted.

Lauren pulled up to Camila's school "Okay, I'll pick you up later, is there anything going on after school today?" Lauren was mentally thinking of the schedule that was on their fridge.
"I have soccer practice after school," Camila reminded her. "So can you grab my cleats and clothes before you come and get me?" she smiled hoping her sister would say yes. Camila had been playing soccer for little over a year now after Lauren wanted the girl to find a hobby and it was the only sport she was good at and enjoyed.
There were a handful of hobbies she tried, all of them being sports. She tried basketball but kept getting a face full of orange. She then tried softball, a sport that Lauren was really good at. Camila, on the other hand, didn't really understand the sport and didn't keep up any interest with it but would still occasionally throw the ball around with Lauren. And then came soccer, where she showed that she was a natural and when they first played it in gym class the talent showed.
Lauren playfully rolled her eyes and agreed. "Okay, now get going or you're gonna be late" Camila kissed her sister on the cheek before waving bye as she drove away.

The first few hours of Lauren's shift could be described as stressful. She was constantly in demand by the patients because a lot of nurses didn't show up, which was a real nuisance. If she didn't have a break soon then she would surely go insane. Finally, after the third hour, she got to get a breather in the doctor's lounge where she climbed on the massage chair and relaxed for her short 15 minutes, only for her relaxation was interrupted by a familiar face.
"Hey, Jauregui," Damien stood in front of the girl, clad in a blue scrubs and a stethoscope around his neck.
"What are you doing here?" she sighed, not wanting to waste her precious break time.
"You guys are understaffed and I'm an on-call nurse when I'm not a paramedic, so I guess you and I will be working together for the day," he smiled kindly.
"Great," she replied sarcastically with a smirk.
The two worked beside each other, going back and forth between patients. Near the end of her shift, they finally bumped into one another again, or rather Damien was waiting for her to walk by to ask her something that he finally had the courage to do.
"Hey, we end in like 30, um... would you like to grab a coffee with me downstairs in the cafe. The coffee sucks but we could grab something else?"
"Well," Lauren knew when her shift ended, and she knew she had to go pick up Camila, but she figured 20 minutes wouldn't hurt; she needed to live a little. "Sure, I'd like that," she smiled before heading in the direction she was going to, Damien did a silent victory dance and stopped awkwardly when he saw people walking by he gave a sheepish smile and kept walking.

The two grabbed their beverages and sat down at a table. Lauren had to admit her heart skipped a beat slightly. "So we've been friends for a while now and I really enjoy it, I really do but I feel we should get to know each other more,"
Lauren took a sip of her drink before she answered. "Uh, yeah I guess, what do you want to know?"
"Umm... I don't know anything," he paused to think. "Tell me, do you have any hobbies?"
Lauren thought for a bit realizing she really didn't do much "I, um, well I guess I don't do much. I mostly just hang out with my sister as lame as that sounds," she replied as she looked down at her drink.
"It's not lame, your sister is Camila correct,"
"Yeah, she's my whole world. You remembered,"
"Flair for detail remember?"
Lauren couldn't help but smile at him, his chocolate brown eyes were like pools that she could get mesmerized in and she couldn't help it; she hasn't felt this way about a guy before. "Tell me about yourself,"
He took a swig of his drink. "what do you want to know?"
"Everything,"

Camila had been waiting outside the school for almost 30 minutes waiting for her Lolo. She sat on the bench swinging her legs, her sister was never this late before and she knew she was always punctual, which made Camila fear for the worst. Camila didn't own a phone yet so she couldn't call her sister. "How long does it take to grab my soccer bag?" she huffed to herself when she realized she was going to be late for practice or at this point miss it entirely.
>>>
"And that is how I became a nurse," Damien concluded they have been talking for an hour and a half and the pair were hitting it off and kept finding different topics to talk about. They didn't it want it to end.
Lauren was listening to something else that the boy was saying but saw the clock behind him, It read 4:45 "Shit," she leaped up, grabbing her stuff.
"Hey, where you going?"
"I was supposed to pick up my sister almost two hours ago, I have to go. But I really had a great time. Maybe we can do this tomorrow or something?"
"I'd like that,"
"Great," she stood there, the two having another moment before Damien cleared his throat.
"You should probably go,"
"Right, you're right. Bye!" Lauren ran to her car and sped to Camila's school where she found the girl moping on the bench. She honked twice getting her attention Camila rolled her eyes and slung her bag over her shoulder and climbing into the car. "You're late, like super late. You had me worried. I thought something happened to you!" Camila scowled.
"I know," Lauren bit her lip.
"What happened? I'm late to practice, and I take it you didn't grab my bag either?" Camila demanded the truth. "Shit," Lauren cursed inwardly.
"I, uh, got distracted." (yeah, by Damian's eyes)
"Doing what?"
"Just something, look why don't we go out for dinner tonight, let me make it up to you?"
Camila frowned. "That's not really an answer, Lo,"
"It's hard to explain but I will get into it later okay?"
"Okay, but I better be getting dessert at wherever we're going," Camila mumbled still a little mad at her sister.
They headed to one of their favorite restaurants and Lauren was once again distracted by her phone going off with texts from Damian. Camila noticed this and was once again mad. What could be more important then the two of them hanging out? Camila coughed abruptly getting her sister's attention.
"Sorry, what were you saying?" Lauren put down her phone.
"I didn't say anything, what is so important that you have to be texting while we're about to have dinner" Lauren was taken aback a bit by her sister's attitude it was almost like Camila was the adult and she was the 10 year old.
