Chapter 20: ~ The Move~

It was a Saturday afternoon, and the Jauregui sisters had decided to go out for lunch. Lauren had to tell Camila about Damian moving in, and she wasn't sure about how the younger girl would react.

Camila could see the wheels turning in Lauren's head as they were both looking at the menu. "What is it, Lo? Just talk to me," the ten-year-old voiced.

"Well, Mila," Lauren looked up from her menu to look in her sister's eyes. "You're okay with Damian right?"

Camila just shrugged. "Yeah, we're okay. I wouldn't say we're best buddies, but as long as he makes you happy?"

Lauren was relieved. "Well, how would you feel if he moved in with us?" Camila paused. "Umm, you mean like he stays with us forever?"

"Yeah, is that okay?" Lauren asked.

"Well, I guess it's okay," Camila nodded. 'How bad could it be?' she thought to herself.

"Thanks, Mila," The two sisters hugged, happy to find a middle ground.

It was days later. Damian and Lauren were at Damian's apartment as they began packing his stuff to take to his new home. It felt surreal, almost scary to be taking that leap in their relationship.

"Okay, let's put my shoes in this box," Damian grabbed his pairs of shoes, Lauren doing the same. "You own a lot of shoes,"

"I guess you can call me a sneaker-head," he chuckled as he placed the shoes into the box. "I'm glad we're taking this step," he held Lauren's hands. She smiled up at her boyfriend.

"I am too. It's just..." She hesitates, looking away.

"You're not ready?"

"No, it's not that." Lauren begins to pace. "It's just...I don't know with Mila. She says she's okay with you, but now I'm not so sure,"

Damian went quiet before speaking. "Oh," he says, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend and kissing her head. "I understand if you want to wait,"

"No, I want this to happen." she insisted. "Can you and Mila do a little bonding. You both are very important to me, and it's vital that you both get along,"

"Don't worry, Lo. After a little bonding session, we'll be the best of friends," the couple shared a quick kiss. "I promise,"

The couple loaded up Damian's car with is things and headed to the house.

Once there, Camila helped them unload, and bringing stuff into Lauren's room since that's where he'd be sleeping. The idea of having someone else in the picture was not keen with Mila. In her opinion, her world revolved around Lauren, and now she had to accept her boyfriend.

"Well, now that I'm all settled in, why don't we go out for dinner? My treat," Damian beamed.

"That's a great idea" Lauren smiled.

They got to the restaurant, and Camila stayed quiet while the couple laughed with each other.

Damian noticed this, frowning slightly. He had no intention of leaving Mila out. "Hey Mila, since you're out of your cast maybe you and me can go play some soccer? They put up some nets at the park near your place,"

"Yeah, maybe," Camila continued eating quietly.

Lauren sent Damian a stare of 'thanks for trying', gently rubbing his hand.

The three went home, and Camila went straight to her room, getting ready for bed.
