Mei stayed true to her word and arrived just over ten minutes after the call ended. The moment you opened the door for her she was bolting into your house, making a beeline for the living room.
"Get some snacks, make some drinks. We're talking boys," was all she said.
"It's not like that," you chuckled lightly, following her.
She jumped onto your couch and sat cross-legged, hands hidden in her lap and an expectant look on her face. You sat next to her a little more stiffly, shoulders squared and feet flat on the floor. Your hands were folded together in your lap and you kept switching your gaze from the floor to your friend's fiery eyes.
"Well?"
"There's someone I like but I don't know when I should confess," you began. "Just thinking about doing it sends my heart palpitating in my chest and it doesn't seem like that will change. How do I confess when it constantly feels like I'll pass out in the process?"
"You know what?" Mei scooted closer and grabbed one of your hands. "You just got to go for it when the moment is right. The right time will come and you'll know that when you got to do it. Shove your nerves aside and just blurt it out. It'll feel a lot better once you get it out there, especially if the feelings are mutual. Unfortunately, life isn't a fairy tale and sometimes you have your heart broken but, honestly, it's better than pining after someone without knowing if you actually stand a chance."
"You make it sound like you're an expert on this kind of stuff," you mumbled.
"Girl, I've been rejected countless times; I'm the epitome of a broken heart. And I know you don't want to hear this but if you're turned down, I'm here if you need to talk to someone. I don't want to frighten or discourage you but you need to know it's a possibility." Mei gave you a curious look, tilting her head and biting on her thumb. "Who is this guy anyway?"
"Hoseok," you answered in a small voice.
"Are you fucking joking?"
Your eyes widened. What the hell was that supposed to mean? "I'm sorry?"
"You're not gonna get rejected so I honestly don't know why you're so worried," she huffed. "You two are literally made for each other. I'm sure he feels the connection between you. Next time you see him just make out with him, I'm sure he'll kiss back."
"You don't know that..."
"Yes, I do. When you're an outsider looking in on a potential relationship such as this one you can tell it will work out. Hell, I'm sure anyone would be able to see what a great couple you two make," Mei said firmly.
"So you seriously think I should confess to him the next time we meet?" you questioned.
"Okay, maybe not next next time but I wouldn't stress over this for long. He's bound to reciprocate the feelings so whenever the moment is right just do it. If you want to come up with a plan to create the perfect setting then I totally think you should. Promise you'll tell me about it when you're finished, though."
This would take some time. What could you do with Hoseok to create the perfect moment? You'll have to brainstorm some ideas later. There were a few things you could think of on the spot but they weren't special enough, basically cliché. Hoseok didn't deserve something bland like that, not that radiant piece of sunshine.
"Who else knows?" Mei asked.
"Yoongi. Who else is there for me to tell, idiot?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot you have no friends."
You rolled your eyes. "Gee, thanks. You're so helpful."
"What would you do without me?" she smiled, winking playfully.
