When dinner was finished, you helped navigate Hoseok around in his car to the place where you would finally set your plan into motion. It was a hill in the middle of nowhere, far from any city or suburban area. Along the way, Hoseok continuously asked you for hints and your true intentions for taking him out to a desolate area. No matter how many times you told him you weren't gonna kidnap or harm him it seemed he couldn't get those crazy ideas out of his head.
"Just park along the street here," you told him when the hill came into view.
"Oh God, you're gonna stab me on the top of that thing and kick my body off so that I go tumbling down it," Hoseok sighed as he put the car into park.
The slapped his arm lightly. "Am not. Don't be so melodramatic."
Hoseok's gaze fell onto another vehicle further up the street. His eyes narrowed and he squinted at the car suspiciously. "Isn't that--"
"Go to the top of the hill. He's here because I needed his help," you interrupted. Hoseok looked like he was going to object so you gave him a warning look. "I'll be coming up right after. He came to drop something off for me."
"I can't say hello?"
"You're gonna spoil my surprise for you," you scowled.
Hoseok put his hands up into a surrendering position. "Okay, okay. I'll go to the hill."
Both you and the brunette got out of his car and went your separate ways, with him walking across the field to get to the hill and you walking up the street to the familiar car. When you got close enough, Yoongi stepped out of the vehicle and tilted his head up at you, his way of saying "hello".
"Thank you again for doing this," you said, hugging your best friend before walking around the car to get to the trunk. Yoongi followed and opened it for you.
"It'd be kinda hard to carry this stuff around everywhere so I understand why you'd want me to bring it for you," the short man shrugged.
In the back was a telescope and a picnic basket. The basket wouldn't have been difficult to bring with you but the telescope would've definitely caused some issues. It's not like it was heavy or hard to carry since it was currently folded up in its bag--you were worried Hoseok would recognize what it was, that's all.
"Do you want me to come up with you and set it up?" Yoongi offered.
"I know what I'm doing," you said with a dismissive wave. "It's not like I bought this thing without learning how to put it together. I did my research, obviously."
"If you say so," Yoongi said, sounding uncertain.
You grabbed the telescope and slipped the bag straps over one shoulder while grabbing the picnic basket with your other hand. Facing your best friend, you smiled triumphantly and gestured to yourself.
"See? No problem."
Yoongi closed the trunk with a roll of his eyes. "Yeah, sure."
Your bright expression slipped from your face as you felt yourself grow anxious. "What if this doesn't work out? What if he doesn't like this idea? Or worse, what if he doesn't feel the same way and rejects me?"
Yoongi placed a hand on your shoulder and smiled bitterly. "I hate to tell you this but that's life. It isn't always fair and it doesn't go the way you'd like it to. If Hoseok only sees you as a friend you're gonna have to accept that, as hard as it may seem. That just means you haven't found the right person for you yet."
"He is the right person for me, I know it. I just don't know if I'm the right person for him--that's what scares me."
"Whatever happens you'll get through it," Yoongi said softly, weaving his hand through your hair and pulling you into his chest. "I'll be here to help, Mei too."
