"I hope you know I'm ready to shit my pants in the event I get caught by a jumpscare. Which is literally any scary part ever."

You looked at Mei and smiled innocently. "In that case, you'll be walking home alone. I'm not about to walk next to you smelling like crap and I'm not cruel enough to force Hoseok into dealing with that either."

"And yet you're cruel enough to pick a horror movie when you know how much I hate them," Mei frowned.

"As I've said, you are a guest. If this bugs you that much feel free to go home," you said with a shrug.

"You two know that when the movie starts this won't be able to continue, right?" Hoseok asked, gesturing between you and Mei. "They're gonna kick us out for disturbing everyone else."

"Don't worry, Mei knows this," you said, winking at your short-haired friend.

"You're part of the problem too, (Y/n)," Hoseok sighed.

"Exactly," Mei huffed, arms crossed and eyes squinted.

"Okay, okay, we'll stop. That way our money doesn't go to waste once we're asked to leave."

"Love that you're just deciding things for me now," Mei scoffed.

Hoseok gave you a warning look when he caught you leaning forward in your seat, ready to snap back a response to Mei's comment. Choosing to abide by his wishes, you ignored her and instead began watching the previews that just started.

"Are there any movies you've been looking forward to seeing?" you asked the brunette to your left.

"Nothing in particular. Haven't really found anything that has caught my eye," he replied.

"If all goes well, maybe we could do this again when something you're interested in does come out," you suggested.

Hoseok turned his head to look at you and arched an eyebrow. "That's quite optimistic of you. I'm glad you're thinking on the positive side."

"I actually enjoy going out to see movies so that's partly why I want everything to go smoothly," you said. "Don't want this place to be ruined for me."

"I'll try not to do anything too risky, with respect to your comfort zone," Hoseok smiled.

The rest of the previews continued without much conversation between you three. When they were finished the lights dimmed and a hush fell over the movie theatre. Mei sunk into her seat slightly and leaned over the armrest between you two.

"Is it too late to go to the bathroom?" she whispered.

"Yup."

She pouted and moved away from you, appearing to curl in on herself. You could tell she was gonna give you the silent treatment afterwards if this movie ended up scaring the shit out of her. You became more certain of this fact when it was only about twenty minutes into the movie and your friend had already cursed aloud six times. These curses were loud, full of emotion, and caused people in the front rows to turn around and stare at her.

Hoseok wasn't making as big of a scene as Mei but you could tell the movie was getting to him, too. He always managed to cover his mouth in time so he never made any loud noises. However, he would jump in his seat so noticeably and unexpectedly it had you flinching. Whether it was because you didn't expect the sudden movement or because you thought he was gonna hit you. Either way, it sent your heart racing in your chest each time.

"Are you guys sure you want to stay and watch this thing?" you asked. You were mostly directing the question at Hoseok though because you were certain Mei would say she wanted to do something else.
