Chapter 17 Memories

Your P.O.V.
I started packing my stuff. Ryland and Shane already found a house. I'm kind of excited but also kind of sad. I've pretty much grown up in this house. It's like I'm letting a piece of myself go. All the good and bad memories are in this house. This place is where I met Garret. The place where I brought my first friend. The place where Shane first got Uno. The place where I met Ryland. The place where Morgan first had a sleepover with me. I'm going to miss this place so much. I wish I could stay here but I know it's better for us to move. I let some tears fall. I just can't let this place go it's a place where I've grown up and felt safe. I've never felt safer in my life, being in this house has brought me joy. I know it sounds ridiculous but this is my home. The home that has held so many memories when it was just me and Shane. I remember when we first tried to cook dinner and almost burned the house down. The thought still makes me smile. I even remember when I was younger Garrett and I were pretending to be wizards. We built forts and used blankets as capes and Garret brought his wands so we could play with them. Those were good times. I wiped my tears away but they still kept going. I felt a hand on my shoulder which made me jump. I looked over and saw Shane,"Hey sorry didn't mean to scare you." He says I quickly wiped away my tears,"Its okay." I sniffed.
"I know that this is hard for you.." he says I nod in agreement he sighs,"I was thinking about all the memories in here and I just... I don't know.." he sounded upset when telling me this. I give him a gentle smile.
"Its okay dad. It'll be hard of course. But I know it's for the best." I say I felt like that I was giving myself an excuse. I'm upset of course but obviously not at my dad. I don't want him to worry about me being upset.I won't let it show. Dad gave me a hug,"I don't know how lucky I am to have a daughter like you." I hugged him tighter,"I love you dad." I said he placed a kiss on the top of my head,"I love you too kiddo." ~○~
I was playing dolls with Kat in the living room near the office. She already had her stuff packed since she doesn't really have a lot,"Hey guys." I looked over and saw Ryland smiling at us,"Hi daddy!"Kat exclaimed happily Ryland sat next to us cross crossed,"What are you guys playing?" He asked
"Dollies want to play?"she asked happily Ryland shook his head,"Your actually supposed to be napping right now missy."Ryland scolded playfully she giggled knowing it's a joke. Ryland picked her up and took her upstairs to put her down for a nap. I started cleaning up the mess and put her toys back in her toy bin. I sat on the couch and went on my phone,"Thanks for cleaning the room." I looked up at Ryland and smiled,"No problem." He sat down on the other couch next to me,"So are you excited for a new start?" Ryland asked I shrugged,"I guess so. I don't really mind but this house is like a part of me. You know?" I explained he nodded understanding,"I understand. This can be hard. I know you've grown up here so it'll be more difficult to you." He says,"You have more memories in here than I do.." he continues.
"I know you have memories in here as well. Even though you've been here for a short while." I chuckled.
"I know but it's different. I do have memories here that I cherish but like I said you've grown up here. So it's much harder for you." He says I nodded,"I'll be alright though." I say smiling.~○~
I was eating dinner with my family,"Kat don't play with your food."Ryland says gently Kat has been a bit rebellious lately. It's kind of irritating. Kat just looked at Ryland and continued playing with her food,"Did she take a nap today?" Dad asked while taking another bite of his burrito,"Yeah her usual time." Ryland replies.
"Maybe shes just at that stage. She is three after all." I say.
"I thought that was age two." Shane says Ryland just sighed,"Sweetie eat your dinner."Dad says Kat just sighed.
"What's wrong Kat?" Shane asked she just shrugged as a response. After the awkward dinner I went upstairs and called Caleb. After the first two rings he answered,"Hey baby." He says cheerfully.
"Hi what are you up to?" I ask
"Nothing much just some homework." He replies I sat on my bed crisscross,"what have you been up to?" He asks. I bit my lip and sigh," I've been umm packing." I say.
"For vacation?Ooor?" He asks
"No I'm moving. I don't really want to but I kind of have no choice." I say
"Where to?" I can hear a bit of worry and sadness.
"No where super far away it's probably an hour or so away from this house." I say.
"Damn babe I'm sorry." He says he's the only one that knows how much this house means to me. He knows a lot of things about me.
"Don't be I can handle it. I know it's for the better." I say.
"When are you moving out?"
"In a couple weeks."
"You think we can see each other soon?" He asks
"Maybe. We'll see." I reply
"Okay let me know when your free I want to see you." He says,"Well I got to go babe. I love you."
"Bye love you too talk to you tomorrow." I hung up the phone and laid back in my bed. My eyes scan my almost empty room. Memories started to pop up in my head.
~flashback~
"This is your new room." Dad says as he placed both his hands on my shoulders. I looked around the room in awe,"Really?" I gasp dad chuckled,"Really really." He says I look up at him and see him smiling at me,"I hope it's not to girly for you." He says while scratching the back of his neck. I hugged his waist,"I love it. Thanks dad."

That was the best day ever. The day Shane adopted me and took me in. I felt tears on my face fall again. I let them fall until I fell asleep.
