Chapter 26 Almost There

I decided to do a time skip where you're only a few weeks from graduating from high school. Also trigger warning about abuse.
Your p.o.v.
There's only five weeks until high school is officially over. I'm graduating early and only need to turn in five more credits. I also volunteered to help set up prom I'm even allowed to bring Caleb to the prom! I'm super excited anyways I'm watching over Kat. Ryland and Dad went out real fast to go get some food they've been gone for about twenty minutes. Kat is playing with her toys in the living room while I'm watching tv. I heard the door unlock I looked over and saw dad and Ryland walking through the door with food in their hands,"Daddy!" Kat yelled as she dropped her toys and ran to Ryland and hugged his legs.He almost dropped the drinks,"Hey Sweetie be careful okay. I almost dropped our drinks,"Oh sorry daddy." Kat apologized Ryland looked at her sympathetically.
"Don't worry sweetheart. Come on let's go eat." Ryland smiled at Kat, she let go of his legs and walked into the kitchen we got to the kitchen and sat down to eat. Except dad and Ryland they were standing and eating their food,"So (y/n) are you excited about prom?" Ryland asked I finished chewing my food and nodded.
"Yeah I'm pretty stoked about it." I beam happily dad smiled at me.
"Well maybe Morgan can help you go dress shopping?" Dad suggested I nodded happily.
"Definitely." I reply happily, once I finished my food I decided to ask dad if I could go over Caleb's house since I haven't seen him in a while,"Hey dad?" I say to him as I help clean up the kitchen,"Yes daughter?" He jokes I laugh and shake my head.
"I was wondering if I could go over to Caleb's?" I ask he looks over at me and seems to be in thought,"Sure but make sure it's okay with his parents." Dad says I smile and thank him. I went upstairs and called him by the first few rings he answered.
"Hey babe!" Caleb answers cheerfully I smile.
"Hey are you busy? I was wondering if I could go over to your house? Only if it's okay with your parents." I said rushing the last part before he could answer I could hear arguing. Caleb sighed on the other line and seemed a bit frustrated.
"Honestly babe I don't think it's a good idea..." he sighed upset I bit my bottom lip.
"Maybe you can come over here?" I suggest he seemed hesitant before answering.
"I'll pack my things. Is it okay if your dad picked me up?" He asked
"Of course." I reply once things were planned I told dad the plan and he agreed with it.
Shane's P.O.V.
I pulled up at Caleb's house I told (y/n) to stay at the house to get things ready for Caleb. Before I could knock on the door it swung open revealing Caleb with a black eye. He slightly gasped noticing me he quickly walked out from the door and shut it. He adjusted his bag,"Hi Mr.Dawson." He greeted and faked a smile.
"Hey are you okay?" I asked he held a look of uncertainty I just nodded as to tell him it's okay. We walked to my car and he got in the passengers side I pulled out his driveway and started driving,"You know (y/n) is going to want to know what happened." I said from the corner of my eye I see him nod.
"I know honestly me getting punched in the eye happened so fast that I couldn't cover it up." He replies honestly I nodded,"It just seems that lately I can't seem to do anything to please them... I honestly have no idea what to do anymore..." I heard his voice crack but I could tell he didn't want to cry,"You know you can stay with us as long as you want." I said I quickly glanced at him and saw him looking at me shocked and speechless. I put my eyes back on the road,"No I wouldn't want to intrude." He protests I shook my head,"You wouldn't. I can take you to school or Ryland can as well. You can stay as long as you need to." I said.
"Mr.Dawson you really don't need to do this." He says I once again shake my head.
"No I understand what it's like. I don't want (y/n) losing someone again.  I'd rather you be safe." I say.
"Thank you Mr.Dawson." He thanks me I smile.
"It's not a problem. Also you know you can call me Shane. You know that." I laugh he chuckled,"I know but it's respectful to call an adult by their last name." He replies I chuckle. We finally arrived at the house and walked into the house once I unlocked the door I had Caleb go in first. I opened it and Caleb walked in (y/n) came into view and smiled when she saw us. But her smile faded once she saw Caleb she ran to him and placed her hand on his cheek,"Caleb what happened?" She asked worryingly I closed the front door and locked it. Gently I placed my hand on Caleb's shoulder to reassure him he glanced at me and sent me a small smile,"Let's go upstairs and talk." He says to (y/n) and with that they went upstairs.
