Okay, a little rant from yours truly.

Everyone is kinda half hearted about the update. While me panicking because they no longer support my phone's android version. (Android Jellybean)

I've been running the app for 5-6 months without updating it whatsoever. I'm kinda worried they might force update me before I can buy a newer phone. Whatever, I can find ways to get online if it happens.

***

But back to the update, I've been seeing buzz across other social media sites. Also read the newest features in the play store page myself.

What's the point of paying for each chapter? Is this a game that you have to pay for each episode?

It's like you bought a book but you have to pay chapter 13. Because, that's what it sounded like.

I get it, Wattpad wants to finance other authors who really are in need. Or maybe just another company that wanted to milk our cash like farmers. Oops, a bit too far?

Back to the subject, this platform has been free for years. If they wanted us to pay for sh*t, maybe paying each chapter is a wrong move. Like I said this is not some type of game where you need need to pay for the next episode.

We're talking about books here.

Books.

Even if its a fanfic or just some rant book.

It's.

Still.

A.

Book.

Even if its a thing where you kept writing 'Connor' in every goddamn page its still a book.

Wattpad, if you really want us to pay the fic we read, why not pay the whole damn thing instead. Not each chapter, I mean the whole thing.

It'll feel like you're buying a real book, not some kind of cash cow way.

Most people who are here are students, including myself. Teens who has other priorities to pay and kinda broke. You're cash cowing the wrong app, developers. You might lose consumers in the process if this continues.

Get the point?

I know they won't bring back the old Wattpad we loved. I don't have high hopes (get it?) on them downgrading the app back to its original form.

Maybe, JUST maybe they should update the app for a better one.. Like fixing the notifications because they're a bit delayed, or making a dark mode for the whole app so users won't hurt their eyes. Or making a group community so everyone can share their stories at ease and everyone can get to read them.

Dear developers, you're running a community based app. If we(users) didn't downloaded your app, it will be dead and forgotten. This has been a home for us when we wanted to escape the real world for a while. Like a little place where we can be ourselves and reach out to other people.

I'll make you think our lad, Developers.

Does the update really helped the consumers?

Are you really HELPING the consumers?

---

Wait, hold up. I know you guys will say I'm over reacting bla bla bla.

"Its still free, its just a beta."

"Go on another site whatever."

"If you want free then move out of here.''

"But we're gonna fund the authors who are in need."

A question for you..

If you've been with a relationship for so many years with this guy/girl. If he/she suddenly changed, what would you react?

There, see my point?

This app has been a bore killer and a way to reach out to people for me. And its free for so many years.

Do you think people will get mad or rant if this is app had paid content when it was first released?

I have to cut this short because this part has already 600+ words.

Developers, if you're seeing this and maybe read the whole thing.

Maybe try rethinking the other features of this app and get in touch with the community more before going into action.

Comment your thoughts about this, I will read them. Thanks.
