The wind blew through Hee-yong's hair lightly. The long, dark locks swayed in the air as she stood with her toes in the water just at the shoreline. The warm weather was nearing it's end, and Hee-yong was grateful for that since it meant that it wasn't too hot or too cold, it was just perfect. Jin, Jungkook, Namjoon and Hoseok all splashed around in the water, they swam and joked around with one another. Taehyung and Jimin sat at the nearby snack bar drinking their fill of fruity alcoholic drinks. Yoongi laid out on a towel a short distance away from Hee-yong and he simply laid there, observing his surroundings and absorbing the daylight. It was peaceful and beautiful and brought Hee-yong a feeling of happiness she hadn't felt in quite a while. She felt like she was with family. She and Jin were loved immensely by their own family, but their parents got brand new jobs when Hee-yong was four years old and since then they had been absent frequently. The only person that Jin and Hee-yong had ever become so incredibly close with was Jimin, but right then, as Hee-yong watched all the boys around the beach, she felt like this was where she belonged. She and Jin weren't lonely anymore. How could they be when they were surrounded by so much love and happiness?
"Noona! Come in, the water feels great!" Jungkook yelled to Hee-yong from the salty waves. Hee-yong grinned at the boy but shouted back that she would just stay on the sand for a while. Jungkook shot the older girl a thumbs up before he dove underneath the water effortlessly. Hee-yong smiled and appreciated the feeling of the sand squishing beneath her feet as she made her way to where Yoongi sat. Hee-yong plopped down next to the boy and said, "Hey, Yoongs." Yoongi smiled very softly, barely a smile, really.
"Hello, Yongie," he said in reply. Hee-yong poked Yoongi's cheek affectionately.
"I'm glad we don't hate each other," she said. Yoongi smiled a real smile that time and pushed Hee-yong away.
"Me too, kid. Now go get some water, you're blocking my sunlight," he said. Hee-yong chuckled and stood up before she dusted herself off. Yoongi faintly reminded her of a sunbathing cat. (Lil meow meow!) Hee-yong quickly pulled off her shorts and shirt, throwing them to the sand and then she took off into the water, immediately jumping onto Jin's back.
"Attack!" She yelled dramatically and pointed at Hoseok, who threw his hands up defensively.By the time the sun began to set, all eight members of the group had become just a little bit intoxicated. Some more than others, like Taehyung who had been drinking since their arrival to the beach. The eight of them gathered around the small fire pit, and Namjoon, feeling like the most responsible (and only sober) one, lit the fire and got it going good before he sat down and took a swig of his water.
"I love you guys so much," Hee-yong said suddenly. The affect of her emotional statement was lessened by the loud, obnoxious hiccup that immediately followed. The girl grinned widely until she caught her brother glaring at her.
"What's wrong, oppa?" Hee-yong asked with her eyebrows furrowed. Jin rolled his eyes and pointed at Hee-yong dramatically.
"Why are you so pretty? I'm supposed to be the only pretty one!" He exclaimed. Hee-yong giggled and jumped at Jin, hugging him fiercely.
"Oppa, you're the most beautiful man in the world, don't feel jealous," Hee-yong cooed. Jin pushed his overly affectionate sister away and said,
"You're too clingy when you're drunk."
Hee-yong pouted and day back in her spot. Namjoon grinned as he watched the exchange, once again feeling lucky to witness such a close pair of siblings. Everyone had broken off into their own conversations, jumping from topic to topic rapidly. Hee-yong's eyes began to droop, and she leaned onto Hoseok's shoulder.
"Hobi~" she said in a sing song voice. Hoseok giggled at the girl and looked down at her but as he did, he realized she'd already fallen asleep. Hoseok grew uncomfortable, not knowing what to do with the sleeping girl. He looked around for help but everyone was busy, completely engrossed in their drunken conversations. Everyone except Namjoon, who had noticed Hoseok's struggle and quickly stood up and walked around the pit to where Hoseok and Hee-yong sat. Namjoon quickly lifted Hee-yong into his arms, even though he knew it would likely wear his body down. Hoseok smiled at him gratefully before turning and jumping in to Jimin and Jungkook's playful argument about whether or not water is wet.
Namjoon carried Hee-yong to where her personal beach towel was lying on the sand and he gently laid her down. Hee-yong huffed and immediately curled into a fetal sleeping position. Namjoon sat beside the girl, trying to ease the pain that had bloomed in his chest.
"Everything is gonna be okay," Namjoon muttered to himself reassuringly. He looked down at Hee-yong's drunken, sleeping figure and smiled softly.
"Yes, everything will be okay," he said and brushed a piece of dark hair out of Hee-yong's face. He had always known Hee-yong was a beautiful girl, but he took that peaceful moment to really appreciate her beauty. She had such soft, feminine features with smoky eyes and plump lips that were naturally rosy colored. Her hair was such a dark brown that it could be mistaken for black in some lightings, and her eyes were honey colored brown. Even on days that she didn't wear makeup, Namjoon thought she looked beautiful, a gift that certainly not everyone possessed.
"You Kim siblings are quite an intimidating pair," Namjoon mumbled. Hee-yong and Seokjin's beauty could've rivaled the gods, if you asked Namjoon. He didn't know how they could be so attractive, but he was glad that he was able to know them, not only because of their looks but also because of their personalities and the way they made him feel. Namjoon hadn't been close to anyone other than Taehyung ever since Areum had left, but the day he approached Hee-yong at the ice cream parlor changed his life for the better. Namjoon now had a large and rowdy group of friends who felt like family to him. They accepted him and loved him, and didn't treat him like a fragile baby even after knowing about his condition. Namjoon appreciated that.
"Hee-yong, I know you're asleep and you can't hear me, but... I wanna tell you that I'm so grateful for you. You've changed my life so much in such a little amount of time and I don't know how to thank you for bringing me into this family we have here. I think... The next person to receive a letter from me, will be you," Namjoon said to Hee-yong's sleeping form. The next thing he knew, Hee-yong's plump, soft lips were pressed against his own. The taste of some type of fruity alcoholic beverage transferred from Hee-yong's mouth to Namjoon's and he let out a surprised moan as Hee-yong gripped his face in her hands. Their lips melded together in perfect sync, neither of them breaking away or allowing themselves to fully think about the situation, they just simply let it happen, not knowing that Seokjin was watching from behind them with a heavy heart.Author's Note: woooooah, I was so excited to write this chapter, y'all. They kissed, our babies are growing up 😭 but also why was Jin sad at the end? What do you guys think?
