Jimin was angry. So angry that he had stormed off the field and back into the tiny changing area. He tore his helmet off his head and huffed loudly. He had thought Hee-yong still wanted him, he thought she would always love only him but he was wrong and that became clear as he heard his ex girlfriend say those words.
"Namjoon, you know I love you," she had said. Hot tears stung the backs of Jimin's eyes but he knew he didn't deserve to let them fall.
"I'm the one who caused this," Jimin whispered to himself. He thought about those last months of he and Hee-yong's relationship. How they'd argue often, and how he'd ditch Hee-yong to be with Sidney. Only for Sidney to play him in the end. Jimin had broken his best friend's heart only to have his own broken as well, and now that Hee-yong was moving on, Jimin was reaping the consequences of that. Jimin sighed and pushed his fingers into his eyes to stop the tears from flowing.
"This is not how it ends," Jimin said, sounding determined. He was not ready to let Hee-yong go yet."You bastard, Kim Namjoon," Hee-yong hissed and clutched onto her throbbing foot. Namjoon tried his best to suppress his laughter as he watched the girl hiss in pain.
"BINGO!" Taehyung's voice bellowed across the playing field. Hee-yong's pained expression turned into one of smug victory.
"Loser!" She exclaimed and held up her fingers in the shape of an L in front of Namjoon's face. Namjoon scowled and looked around for his flag. He hadn't even noticed Jungkook sneaking up behind them and grabbing the flag while he and Hee-yong were having their moment. It made him suspicious to say the least. Namjoon was used to being played with so he scrunched his face up and felt his heart squeeze tight in his chest.
"You used me to win the game?" He asked Hee-yong, his voice taut. Hee-yong gaped at the male and shook her head vigorously.
"N-no, Namjoon, I didn't even know Jungkook got the flag," Hee-yong said truthfully, but for some reason, Namjoon couldn't bring himself to believe it. He had been toyed with before, he knew what it felt like. The ache in his chest as bile rose to his throat was identical to the feeling of being heartbroken.
"Namjoon, you have to believe me," Hee-yong pleaded. She knew exactly what Namjoon was feeling, and she knew why he felt that way but she wouldn't let his past experiences shape the way he saw her. Feeling determined, she stomped even closer to Namjoon, grabbed his face in her hands and forced him to make eye contact with her.
"Kim Namjoon, if you won't believe my words then I'll let my actions convince you," Hee-yong said. Namjoon had never heard her voice sound quite as determined as right then. She sounded like a woman on a mission. Without warning, Hee-yong pulled Namjoon's face down to hers and melded their lips together. It wasn't as sloppy as their first kiss had been, which Hee-yong was thankful for. Little volts of electricity shocked both of them through the kiss. Their mouths fit together perfectly, like puzzle pieces. A small groan escaped Namjoon's throat as Hee-yong wrapped her hands around his neck and played with his hair. Chills appeared all over Namjoon's arms at the small action. He wrapped his arms around Hee-yong's waist and pulled her as close to him as she could get. Hee-yong loved how soft Namjoon's lips were against hers, she loved how they tasted slightly like cherry lip balm, she loved how Namjoon held onto her like his life depended on it. She loved everything about the passionate kiss and Namjoon felt the same way. All of his worries and doubts dissipated as he moved his lips against Hee-yong's. He forgot all about the friends that were waiting for them as he lost himself in his raw emotions. He hadn't even realized the full extent of his feelings for the girl. He had been reluctant to allow himself to feel anything for her, but the moment she had said she loved him, it was like the flood gates opened, and the kiss only further pushed his feelings to the surface. Hee-yong was the only one who knew about his past, and it felt good for Namjoon to have someone that understood him, even if he had been mad at her at first. Suddenly, Namjoon thought that Hee-yong's arrival in Areum's old apartment was not a coincidence, it was destiny. He thought it had to be.
"Umm, maybe I should go," a voice said and cleared their throat. Hee-yong and Namjoon jumped apart immediately, both of them turning beet red. Taehyung grinned at the two of them as he swung the red and blue flag around in his hand. Hee-yong scratched her head awkwardly and walked over to Taehyung.
"You can stay, I'll go, buddy," she said and punched Taehyung's shoulder awkwardly before she ran off. The action amused both Taehyung and Namjoon, causing them to break into laughter.
When Hee-yong was out of earshot, Taehyung's expression turned serious.
"I just came to check on you. Are you feeling okay?" He asked. Namjoon flinched at his friend's words.
"To be honest, my chest fucking hurts," he admitted and put his hand over his heart. Taehyung bit his lip in worry.
"Come on, you need to sit down," he said to his friend and motioned for Namjoon to follow him. Taehyung had even considered carrying Namjoon back up to the main area but he knew Namjoon would never let that happen. Taehyung cursed at his friend in his head. Why did he always have to push himself?
Taehyung shook his head and the two of them walked back in silence.
Namjoon's eyes instantly found Hee-yong, and the boy who was next to her, making her laugh. A surge of jealousy rose up in him, and he marched the rest of the distance between him and the girl he had feelings for. Namjoon wrapped an arm around Hee-yong's waist, and Jimin's eyes fell to the place where Hee-yong and Namjoon's skin connected. He gulped but only Namjoon noticed. Namjoon wasn't dumb. He knew what Jimin was doing, trying to get Hee-yong back. But he wouldn't let that happen, never in a million years. Everyone's attention turned to the three of the tense people. Hee-yong didn't understand what was going on but she felt the tension between Namjoon and Jimin and it made her want to recoil and run away but she resisted and stood firm in her place.
"Joon, calm down. Are you okay?" Hee-yong asked. Namjoon's body relaxed and he smiled at Hee-yong and kissed her cheek.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he confirmed. Jimin smiled and squeezed Namjoon's shoulder lightly.
"I'm glad you're okay, Joon," he said, but for some reason his words sounded like a sharpened blade, and Namjoon was ready to match up with his own.
"I can't believe we lost!" Hoseok whined dramatically, trying to ease the growing tension. At this, everyone laughed.
"You were the first one to get shot, Hobi," Hee-yong pointed out. Hoseok glared at the girl and crossed his arms.
"I let that happen, I didn't think you would have a chance of winning otherwise," he defended himself. Jin couldn't help but unleash his windshield wiper laugh.
"You did not let me shoot you, Hoseok, I got that shot fair and square," he spoke through his laughter. Hoseok turned his scowl onto Jin.
"You Kim siblings sure are mouthy," he grumbled. Hee-yong was thankful for Hoseok calming down the heightened atmosphere. He was seriously such a mood maker. Hee-yong's stomach suddenly growled loudly and everyone's attention snapped to her. She smiled sheepishly and said,
"You have to feed me, you heard the belly."
The boys all grinned and chuckled and began taking off their gear.
"I feel like having lobster," Jin said as he removed his gloves. Hee-yong rolled her eyes at her brother.
"Please anything but lobster," she spoke to the group. Jim gasped at his sister's betrayal.
"Jin, I'm allergic to lobster!" She exclaimed. Jin crossed his arms over his chest and pouted.
"That doesn't mean everyone should suffer," he said with the expression of a two year old. Hee-yong relented and sighed heavily.
"Fine," she said and Jin grinned at his sister. He was feeling bitter because of the way Namjoon had so casually held onto his sister but he wasn't going to let some silly crush ruin his relationship with his sibling. Hee-yong came before anyone else, even himself. After everyone had returned their guns and the things that didn't belong to them, they all went out to eat. Naturally, they went somewhere that had a large selection of seafood- specifically lobster.Word count: 1515
Author's note: Okay I know I didn't post it yesterday but I was super busy. I hope the wait was worth it. Anyways, the plot is finally boiling up to a point, which means we're at the climax. That also means the end is nearing though :( I'm honestly so sad because I've grown very attached to this specific set of characters and it'll be the first story I've actually finished writing. But here is the good news. There is definitely going to be a spin-off book. If you've noticed, I've set up several different plot points that could be used for a new book, so I'm obviously going to take advantage of that, which means even though this book will end soon, you'll still get to see what happens to everyone.
xx, Angel
