IVAN:

Finally! I’m getting married to the woman of my dreams – Miss. Rufina Rose Brown who at the end of this day would be Mrs. Rufina Rose Martinez.

“Felicidades Hijo” father hugged me.

“Gracias papa” I thanked him “you look good” I complimented.

“Ha!” he laughed “who wouldn’t. my son is getting married"

I still find that hard to believe. I’m getting married.

“Sit son, let me make your hair"  Papa styles my hair on every special occasion, my first day at school, my grad Party, the day I left home for England, the day I left to Nigeria and now my wedding day.

“Thank you daddy” I said not for this but for being the best man in my life.
He got the message and patted my back

“Sorry I couldn’t do more”

We continued in silence as papa worked his way through my hair.

“Hey dude! Seth entered my room “welcome to the club”

“Not yet” I smiled “I’m still solo for the next hour”

“Yeah! One more hour before you come under the rulership of Queen Rose"

One rulership I don’t mind being under

“There son, I’m done”

“Gracias”

We left home at 9:00am which gave us an hour ahead before the program.
Mother has not called me since I called to tell her about the wedding and my gut was sending some vibes I don’t want to recognize right now.

You won’t marry that woman, mark my words.

Empty treats, I told myself yet I texted Rufi.

You’re ok?

Yeah! We’re leaving home already. you?
I smiled. That’s her way of asking if I had not jilted her.

Waiting to say my vows to you love. I’m in church.

I love you.

“Ready son” father asked

“More than ready”

RUFI:

“Wake up!”  Callie called entering the guest room where I stayed “rise and shine wedding girl”

My wedding day! I jumped up
She laughed “cool off, it’s just seven. Go get a bath then we get the make up going” she pulled away my duvet “come on”.

I don’t need a remainder.
I stood in front of the mirror brushing when I notice my nose looks strange. It looks smaller or may be bigger, is it flatter or wider? My face looks darker too. What’s going on?

“Cal! Are you there?”

“Yes, what’s up?”

I rinsed my mouth clean not looking at the mirror. I quickly rushed out and opened the door.

“Callie tell me the truth ok?”

“Sure” she gave me a lost look.

“My face looks ugly doesn’t it? My nose, it changed right?”

She smiled “not at all Ruf, you look like you do everyday”

“Are you sure, my nose just ……”
