We have no choice but to put him under an induced coma.
An induced coma.“No” she whispered as those words rang in her head “no, Ivan, no”
“I’m right here” Ivan’s voice rang in her head
“Ivan!?” since when did she start hearing things.
“Baby you’ve got to be strong, it’s hard for me knowing you’re not handling this well”
“Ivan?” she couldn’t hide her happiness “are you …. Like are you real? I’m not hallucinating?"“No brown eyes you’re not, look … I gotta go, OK? The doctors are getting me trapped, u just need to promise me you’ll be strong, that you won’t give up, I’ll stay this way for sometime and I might not be able to reach you anymore. Brown eyes your strength is my strength if you give up I would too” his voice started getting far off
“wait for me OK? Promise me! Promise me Rufi” he urged as his voice started to fade.
“I promise you” she promised as a barrier began to slide between them.
“I love you Brown eyes” he said just before the barrier became secure.
“I love you Ivan, with all my heart” she said before finally falling asleep.
A few hours later Rufi felt revived as her eyes opened.
“Baby, you’re OK?" Her Nanny asked
“Yea-aah! Ivan?"
“He is alright, his vitals are more stable now but, the swell isn’t improving so they put him under coma. But you know what?"
She smiled, not the first smile in the last 24 hours but the first real smile.
“Nana?”“I love you brown eyes? She chuckled
“Ehn?”
“That’s what he said”
Then it wasn’t a dream “Ivan was here” she said more to herself than to her Nanny.
" 'here' as in here" her Nana tapped her head “or 'here', as in here” she motion to the room.
Rufi nearly smiled, nearly “in this room”
“Not surprised”
“You believe it?”
“Why wouldn’t i?”
“Nana!”
“So….. What did he say?” she teased her.
Rufi smiled, really smiled this time. With her Nanny teasing her she could almost pretend everything was normal.
Almost.

“Where is she” Teresa yelled coming into the waiting room “where is the murdered!”
Callie who had been talking with Ms. Nelson stood up at the sound of her mother’s voice.
“Mother?”“Callie where is that bastard?”
“Diana?" Callie called trouble.
“Rufina Brown!” she yelled
“Excuse me?” Ms Nelson rounded the corner “how dare you call ….. Teresa?” she said in disgust
“Yes Teresa, don’t tell me you birthed that bitch” she said with mock concern.
Ms Nelson straighten to her full height 5feet7’inch an advantage against Teresa “listen to me Clint, if you call my daughter a bitch one more time, I promise you’ll be admitted into this hospital yourself” she said with death seriousness.
