Ivan paced the doctor’s office with so much grace it would be impossible to believe that eight days ago he was hibernating.

“Cleared?”

“What can I say?” Dr Jane smiled “it’s hard to hold you down Mr. Martinez”

“Don’t even try” Rufi looked on top of the world “he almost shoved me down the stairs yesterday”

Rufi had told Ivan the day before that he wasn’t strong enough to go around himself, and as a dutiful wife she tried to carry her husband only for her to end up  being carried. She was so sure he’ll drop her she screamed all the way to the last step.

“I did not drop you, did I?” They all laughed at that.

Dr Jane in her few years of practice had never seen a patient recover full body movement at Ivan’s speed after spending six months in coma. She’d also never met a family like theirs. So happy.

“Alright then, you’re cleared to carry out all reasonable activity”

“Reasonable? Who does anything reasonable?”

“Ivan?!”

“Sorry baby, but I know the reason you fell in love with me, and you’re still in love with me is because I ain’t do no reasonable thing”.

Ump! Rufi shook her head bemused.

“Don’t try to argue sweetheart” he said

“Thanks Doc” Rufi chose to ignore him. “Don’t worry he won’t do anything crazy."

“Well, well we will see about that, ‘cus crazy is my thing” Ivan spoke to the air.

Both Rufi and the doctor gave him a look he’d never seen before.

"What!"

* ********************************************

Rufi had to learn to control her wishes. Really. She fell off that stairs two days ago, not from Ivan’s hand but into it. God saved her he was around or she would have broken her leg or her neck.

Her second wish came true as Ivan made it to Ana-blaire’s party.
One just needed to see father and daughter dance to realize how boring and sad the day would have been without Ivan.

When Ana-Blaire was announced the health prefect of the school Ivan yelled praises at her to the astonishment of some and annoyance of other parents.

Rufi knows better than to interfere, she simply sat quietly beside Maria and Bernice as Bernice also endured the embarrassment but secretly enjoyed the pleasure of having her best friend back and also her son matriculating into the basic class.

“You’re OK?” Rufi asked Bernice.

“Yeah, why?”

“Why?” Rufi arched her brow and placed a gentle hand on Benise’s beach ball sized belly and little Ashley kicked in reply “hey kiddo!”

Bernice placed a hand over Rufi’s "for the next two weeks, Ashley stays in mama’s tummy”
In less than a month Ashley would be born and their group plus one, in less than nine weeks Georgia from Abbi would com too.

Ivan called it  Operation harvest babies

* ***********************************
This was the first girl’s day out in months and they planned on having a ball.
Bernice would be due in two days so this would be her last girls day out with Ashley in the womb. For Bernice's sake the girls decided to treat themselves to a movie as it wouldn’t be fair to drag her around with a tummy threatening to burst open.

Victor was out of town so that saved the other poor husbands as one of them would have been sent out of his house so the girls could watch their movie.

With popcorn and a bowl of ice-cream plus  Maria’s dark living room was the perfect cinema. And for the record the girls were watching Nollywood soap instead of the traditional Mexican telenovelas.

The girls were laughing over something the actor did when Bernice suddenly yelped.

“Bernice?”

“Ouch!” she groaned “the water broke”

As crazy as it seemed Rufi said the first thing that came to her mind.
“Ashley McKay you just ruined our girl’s day out”

Everyone giggled at that including Bernice who giggle-yelped

And so was how the welcomed Ashley Oluwabukunmi McKay into their group.

Wedding bells were ringing everywhere as Martinez Sr. and the cute lady were getting married in ten weeks which happened to be the last Saturday of September, closely followed by the shocker wedding between Henry and Nana-Isa on second Saturday of October.

Because Rufi planned on having a super grand wedding that her event planner says would take nothing less than eight months to plan her covenant wedding to the man of her dreams on the 13th of August the coming year.

For now she’s got two weddings to plan, for four of the most important people in her life.
The cute lady said she wanted a simple wedding and that’s what she’ll get but in a grand style.

The cute lady sat squashed in the back of the minivan with Maria, Rufi, Bernice who was forced to leave Ashley, Only three weeks old with Seth. See why they call them poor husbands?

Anyways, back to the counting Bernice, Abbi and last but definitely not the least Callie wonder where they are going? To get a wedding dress for the bride i.e the cute lady.

After three days, we got the perfect, simple but elegant elegant.
A silk smooth off-white satin gown, lace trimmed with a perfectly cut sweetheart neck.

Cute baby Georgia did not pull any stunt like Ashley as she came on a day with low activity a few weeks to the cute lady’s wedding.

The wedding was glorious as the cute lady and Adrian looked love stroked and sure to remain that way.

Isabella and Henry’s wedding was more funny than solemn as Henry wore a crazy looking suit to match his bride ridiculous gown (she’d insisted on buying when the girls took her shopping).

Isabella looked more like a twenty-five years old than her forty-five years old self as she walked down to meet her thirty-five years old looking fifty year old husband.

They started the year on a sour note but were surely ending with a blissful note.
