Travis' POV

I raked my fingers along the assortment of clothes that were hung up.I keep everything color coded from red to violet in perfect order. Everything's so perfect in my room it's not comfortable, but in Sal's room...it's messy and his clothes are randomly placed in his closet and it's warm and inviting.

He's the better part of me...that's for sure. I sighed and threw on a light blue sweater, it reminds me of him. I smile to myself in my mirror. I was discharged last night. I'm happy to be home, but my dad looks at me like he hates me now, he won't even talk to me...

I'm hanging out with Sal today.

Sal's POV

I stare at the glass door, the rail that is stuck onto the building is rusted and the large sign is falling apart. I sigh, pushing the door open. "Hello?" I call out, not seeing anyone at the desk.

A small lady pops her head out from behind a shelf and gives me a warm smile. "Hello dear, how can I help you?" She asked, making her way to the wheelie chair. "Did somebody maybe drop off an orange tabby cat here? Or lose one?" I nervously rubbed my arm, "hmmm, oh yes! Please follow me." I smiled, my last bit of hope, I've gone to almost every shelter in Nockfell.

I followed her through a door and into a cold metal room. She led me towards a section labeled 'Cats'

My heart was beating out of my chest, please let him be here, please let him be here.

She pointed to the last cage, "right there hun"

I nodded and stepped over cage slowly, tears stung my eyes, "G-Gizmo!" My voice was strained and shaky, the lady smiled and unlocked the cage, "just take him deary, I can tell he's yours." I opened it and pulled him into my arms, "Th-Thank you!!"

I snuggled my face into his fur and fumbled with the collar clipping it onto his neck. Gizmo snuggled into my hug.

I laughed as I cried, "I'm so sorry! I never should've left you with Dad..."

Today is a good day.
