She swung her legs back and forth, taking a swig of her drink. The full moon peeked out of the dark clouds, acting as a spotlight for the town beneath her. The cold breeze of the night hit her in a strong gust of wind. At first, she smiled at the goosebumps the breeze gave her, and the way the clouds rumbled, ready for rain.
Then her smile fell almost immediately. From the news, there wasn't supposed to be any rain yet. She licked her lips and set her strawberry shake next to her. She made sure to keep it away from a safe distance from the edge of the cliff she sat on.
Her hair began to rise and frizz, and a yellow light formed on the clouds. She scooted to her left, releasing a tired sigh. With a sickening crack, a bolt of lightning shot down beside her. Her hair blew back at the force of it.
"Hey, doll,"
She didn't look at him, keeping her eyes on the many buildings in the town. She started counting the ones whose lights are still on, finding it more interesting than whatever the lightning man has to say.
"You seem lonely tonight, just here to give you some company,"
The man plopped down beside her, immediately wrapping an arm around her. He pulled her into his side in a single pull. He pulled his coat partially off his shoulders, wrapping one side around her while keeping his around him. The action was strangely sweet, and she found herself wondering if he's secretly mad or in need of affection. Sometimes it's both.
His hand rubbed her side delicately as if he pressed too hard, she might break. A smirk ran up his face as he pulled the woman closer to him than she already was, almost getting her on his lap when he did so.
"My team came back from their mission,"
She licked her lips and reached out for her strawberry shake. Once she got it in her hands, she hummed softly and took a sip.
"I see, so will you just hang around with them?"
His hand rubbed up and down her side, and he resisted pulling her on his lap completely.
He wasn't sure what was it about the plan that brought him so much joy that he needs to see the woman again. He's still mad about her defending Gajeel- even though that was weeks ago. But he couldn't get over it, in a way, he felt betrayed. She betrayed him and what he thinks is right by defending the enemy. At that moment, he wanted to scream at her, push her out of the way and kill Gajeel himself.
He didn't want her to pay and devote her attention and time to someone that wasn't him. He wanted her to be fawning over him, want him, and need him at all costs. It was a strange feeling, but it fills him with pride at the thought that he can and will protect her from harm's way.
"Yeah, you can say that. Maybe you can tag along," His hand landed on her hip, giving it a firm squeeze.
"I'd love to have you around more often,"
She placed her hand on his, giving him a sweet smile. Her grip tightened on his hand, to a painful level. But he did not flinch, instead, he found it amusing. He likes how she can and will make sure to still be somewhat in control no matter the situation. It gave him a sense of thrill that made his heart pound in his chest.
"Sorry, but I have things to do, like participating in the Miss Fairy Tail pageant,"
His grip on her loosened considerably. His eyes glistened with mischief and amusement at her statement. She would be modeling, probably. Mira probably put her up for it, and throughout the years of the beauty pageant, most of the contestants wear swimsuits to seduce the crowd. The thought of a bikini brought a smile to his face.
