42: Forbidden Love

Her eyes stared down at the pitiful display of citizens scrambled around for a spot of safety. A smirk grew on her face, and her eyes glared down at their screams. A hand rested on her hip, and there was a pair of makeshift horns on her head. Scales littered her arms and legs, and there was a dark presence around her. The moon shined down on them and the destruction her minions caused in the town.

The black dress she wore was tight around her hips and flowed down almost in a bell shape to her knees. There was a cute ribbon around her waist despite her demonic features. But, to add to the demonic effect, her dress was slightly burned on the edges of the dress. This was Natsu's work since he wants her to look like a demon in the night. When she heard about the plan, she wanted to laugh, her first thought that it was a joke. But seeing how serious the fire-breather was, she felt it deep down, it was not a joke.

"Sir! The situation has gotten a lot worse!"

The soldier bursting into a large room, rushing to the pair inside of it. Panic was drawn over his face, and he couldn't help the jitters that ran down his spine. Pantherlily turned to him with seriousness, his arms crossing over his chest.

"I can see that, as you can see, we're already dealing with the anima," He said.

"Have you... stopped it?" The guard asked quite hopefully. The anima has been growing larger by the second, and surely, there should be a way to-

"No," Lily replied simply.

Taking this, the soldier continued adding it to the list of unfortunate events. He looked away in shame, he felt as if he has failed as a soldier. He did, but he doesn't want anyone pointing that out.

"There's been massive rioting in the Royal City. The destruction is beyond our control..."

Mystogan began humming at the news, turning to the large exceed by his side.

"The chaos is far worse than I anticipated. We must do what we can to stop it," He told the exceed.

"Controlling the crowd is the first thing we must do," Lily replied, equally as calm as the soon-to-be king.

Mystogan hummed at that, "You're right. We cannot let this spread,"

The soldier glanced in between the exceed and the unfamiliar man by his side. His eyes are narrowed in confusion, and he moved his eyes to settle on the man, whose tattoo got his attention.

"Uh, sir, who might he be?" He asked the section commander.

Neither of them chooses to reply to that. So instead of explaining the situation, they started walking past the soldier.

They ran down the hallways of the large castle, turning down halls to find a balcony facing the town. They found one easily and pushed the doors open. They looked down at the town that caught ablaze, eyes wide. The fire isn't large, nor does it seem to spread, but it's something that needs to be put out.

Pantherlily gasped at the utter destruction about to unfold before his eyes. Quickly, he whipped his head around to face a pair of soldiers that watched the destruction when it commenced. Unable to hold his anger, a snarl ripped out from his throat, and he gripped the balcony tightly.

"How many are there!?" He yelled as he squeezed the railings of the balcony. The soldiers stiffened at the volume of his voice and moved close to one another for comfort.

"Four, sir!" One of them shouted, unable to contain their jitters and fear for their lives. The exceed's eyes widened at that, and he fully turned around. He clenched his fists tightly at that. His eyes were wide with anger, and they backed away slightly once they realize just how sharp the exceed's teeth are.
