It was a sunny day in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I was waiting for Ponyboy out of school because I came out early from class. It was a very tiring day I literally had quizzes the whole day. "Ugh I don't even get why she has to come to this school" "I know like look at here she's ugly and she looks overweight". I heard these girl socs talking about me but I really could give a crap.
I'm a bit overweight but I don't care what people think of me. "Hey you two" I said to the girls. They both turned around and looked all scared. "Yeah hi I'm (y/n) and I just wanted to tell y'all that, well I hope one day both of you choke on all the crap y'all talk" I said smiling. The girls looked at each other and scoffed. "Oh and I've been trashed talked by many and hated by some. Guess how many f*cks I give? It's less than one" I said walking away from them.
I went inside the school to look for Pony and saw him talking to Cherry. "Ponyboy we have to go" I said. "Oh okay let's go then uh- bye Cherry" Pony said. "Bye Pony, bye (y/n)" "Bye Valance" I said. Pony and I walked to his house singing to some random songs that popped out of our heads. When we got to the house we went straight to the refrigerator. "Darry we're home!!" I yelled out.
"Good I was getting worried, thought y'all were in danger or something" Darry said putting on his shirt. "Hey have you seen Soda, Darry?" I asked. "He said he's going to the park, said something about meeting someone there" Darry said. "Oh okay well I'm gonna do my homework and maybe go down to the DX" I said. I've have a tiny crush for Sodapop it's been going on for a while now.
I finished my homework and went to the DX. "Hey Steve" "Hey (y/n)" Steve says. I got some cookies from the shelf and sat down. "Hey Steve you exercise right?" I asked. "Yeah why you want me to train you or something" he says taking a piece of my cookie. "Hey who told you, you could take a bite of my cookie" I said. "Stop whining pretty soon you won't be eating those cookies anymore" Steve said. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"I mean, we're gonna start exercising " Steve said. "Can I join?" Sodapop said smirking. "Hey Sodapop" I said. "Hey so you want to start exercising that's great" Sodapop said touching my arms. "Yeah I want to feel good about myself and-" "is that the girl that was telling us all that crap?" a girl behind me said.
I turned around and saw the girls that were saying rude things to me so I went up to them and smirked. "Hi there ladies, I see you've found the overweight girl you two were talking about today" I said. "Look greaser we don't want any problems" one of the socs girl said. "Oh but you've started one so you two better stop talking a whole ton of crap because let's be honest we three know I'll be the one winning the problem" I said. The girls looked traumatized and looked at each other.
"Bye now" I said walking away with a grin. "What was that about" Sodapop said. "Oh just some socs girls talking crap like always" I said sitting down. "You want us to make them stop" Steve said. "No it's okay they won't mess with me anymore" I said smiling. I got up and went to go check if any cars were coming. I sat down for at least 10 minutes then a very good looking socs parked his car so I could put gas in it.
"Hi there um- can you put some gas in please" the socs said. "Sure" I said. I filled up the tank and went inside to tell the guy. I saw him talking to some girl so I went up to him and told him his car is ready. "Hey uh- your car is ready" I said. I saw the girl looking at me and I noticed it was the girl that was talking about me. They guy went to his car and was about to leave until I stopped him. "What are you doing?" the guy said.
"Uh- I just wanted to see if you wanted to go out sometime" I said. "Me and you?" he said. "I mean yeah we don't gotta tell anyone" I said getting closer to his window. "Look I'm sorry I just can't go out with you" "why cause I'm a grease and you're a soc" "No because I like girls that aren't your size" he said cringing. "You don't like short girls ?" I said. "No I mean overweight girls" he said. I couldn't believe what I heard so I just left inside.
Sodapop noticed that I was acting weird so he followed me. "Where you going (y/n)?!" he yelled out. "Nowhere Soda just leave me alone!" I said. He ran up to me and saw me crying. "Hey, hey, hey, (y/n) look at me" "no Soda just leave-" "(y/n) look at me" Soda said. I looked at him and hugged him. I was sobbing and I felt like my head was going to explode. "I'm a mess Sodapop, I'm not likable and I'll never have a boyfriend"
"wait so you're crying because you think no boy will ever ask you to be there girl?" "yeah, because I'm fat and ugly" I said crying even more. "hey stop calling yourself that okay, you don't have to loose weight to look like these other girls you're perfect the way you are" Soda said grabbing my face. We both looked at each other and we both felt a spark, then we started leaning onto each other's lips. I then thought that Soda is probably just doing this to make me feel good about myself so I leaned back.
"Soda you don't have to do this" I said. "Do what?" "Well you were gonna kiss me just because you feel bad for me" "(Y/n) look I wasn't just gonna kiss you because I feel bad like I do feel bad for you but that's not the reason I was gonna kiss you" Soda said. I looked at him and saw his eyes get light. "I like you (y/n) a lot and I'm not just saying this because I feel bad but I actually do like you" Soda said holding my hands.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing, Sodapop likes me? How? Why? I was so confused. "W-why me?" I asked. "Because you're the girl that I've been looking for, you're the girl that understands me, (y/n) you're the one for me" Soda said looking at me. I was in serious shock so I freaked out and kissed him. We both smiled and held hands. "(Y/n) will you be my girl" "yes Sodapop I would love too" I said hugging him.

Soda and I told the gang that day and they were all very happy for us. I looked at Sodapop and smiled at him. He smiled back and kissed my forehead. Hopefully we last and if we don't then I'm just glad he loved me for me.
