The Start of a New Era (Koji Koda x OC)

Practical Exam

Mika and Mezo were in a waiting room, discussing possible strategies. After some time, Mika was looking at a folder with a picture of an enclosed room filled with pillars at the front of it, "This will be a tough fight." she said.

Mezo nodded, "But we have to figure out a way to get through our weaknesses." he said. Mika nodded, "This is true..." she said; she heard the door open, making her turn her head to it. Mika saw Ochaco enter the room, making her smile a bit, "Hey, Ochaco." she said, making her flinch.

When Ochaco turned to Mika, she calmed down and waved, "Hey, Mika." she said, "Are you two thinking of a way to beat Snipe-sensei?" Mika nodded, "However, it'll be difficult for us." she said. Ochaco tilted her head, "How come?" she asked.

One of Mezo's dupli-arms turned into a mouth, "They paired us up because of the way we fight." he said. Mika nodded, "Both of us usually fight in close-range combat." she said, "We would be at a disadvantage against someone who uses long-ranged attacks."

Ochaco nodded, "That makes sense; I hope you two do well." she said. Mika slightly smiled, "Thanks, Ochaco." she said. Ochaco smiled and waved, "I better get going; see you guys later." she said before leaving the room.

Mezo stood up and turned his head to Mika, "We better head off, too." he said. Mika nodded and stood up, "Yeah." she said before they left the room.

As the duo was walking to their battleground, Mezo turned his head to Mika and noticed she was worried, "Are you worried about Koda and Jiro against Present Mic-sensei?" he asked.

Mika nodded, "They were paired up because they have sound-related Quirks." she said, "And Present Mic-sensei has his Voice Quirk to cancel them out; I don't know how they'll do."

Mezo nodded and looked forward, "I'm sure they'll be fine." he said, "For now, we have to worry about our exam." Mika looked forward and nodded, "Right." she said as they continued walking.

(Time Skip)

Mika and Mezo entered the battleground and looked around. Mezo turned his head to Mika, "Are you ready for this?" he asked. Mika nodded to Mezo, "As ready as I'll ever be." she said. The duo heard a horn go off, "Team Shoji and Lyoko." the intercom said, "Practical exam; ready... go."

Before Mika walked forward, she saw Snipe aiming his gun at them. Mezo quickly grabbed Mika before Snipe shot at the ground. As the duo hid behind the pillar, Mika shook a bit but calmed down soon after before looking at Mezo, "Thanks for the save." she said.

Mezo nodded and placed Mika on the ground, "Now we're even." he said. Mezo created an eye and an ear from his dupli-arms. When Mezo tried finding Snipe, he kept shooting at them, causing him to keep his dupli-arms behind the pillar.

Mika started getting frustrated and looked at Mezo, "What the hell are we supposed to do in this situation." she said, "If he continues like this, we'll be sitting ducks and lose the practical exam." Mezo nodded, "I know, but try to calm down." he said, "What he's doing is a diversion."

Mika was surprised, "A diversion?" she asked. Mezo nodded, "However, escaping here will be impossible." he said, "It's a good thing that he's slowed down thanks to the weights."

Mika calmed down and nodded before hearing a thump on the ground, surprising her, "What was that?" she asked. Mezo looked with his dupli-arm with the eye on it and saw a smoke bomb on the ground, "A smoke bomb; he's trying to blind us." he said.

Smoke covered the battleground soon after, "But that would also mean that he'll be blinded by the smoke, too." Mezo continued. Mika shook her head, "That won't matter." she said, making Mezo look at her.

Snipe walked forward, "I can still sense yer presence with my Quirk." he said as he continued shooting at them, making Mezo hide again. Mezo noticed the pillar they were hiding was breaking.

Mezo ran toward a different pillar and looked around, "Are you alright, Lyoko?" he asked. Mezo heard no response, making him look back at the destroyed pillar, "Lyoko." he whispered.

Mezo noticed Mika was at a different pillar in her chameleon hybrid, with one end of the handcuffs sticking against her tongue. Mika hid the handcuffs in her mouth before looking at the pillar. Mika touched the pillar with her hands, activating her camouflage.

As Mika climbed up the pillar, she turned her head to Mezo; he nodded, "So that's your plan." he said lowly. Mezo turned his head toward Snipe's direction and sprinted forward, "Don't be rash, kid." Snipe said as he shot at the floor, making him stop.

As Snipe walked toward Mezo, he slowly raised his arms, "Aren't ya giving up a little too easy fer a hero?" he asked. When Snipe was close to Mezo, Mika launched her tongue toward Snipe and cuffed his right wrist, making her grin, "I got him!" she shouted.

Snipe was shocked, "Where did ya-" Mika dropped from the pillar to the floor, deactivating her camouflage. Mika stood up and walked toward Mezo and Snipe, "I see... Shoji used himself as bait so ya could get me." Snipe said.

Mika nodded as the horn went off, "Team Shoji and Lyoko have passed the exam." the intercom said. Mika got her tongue off the handcuffs before returning it to her mouth. Mika pressed the button on her collar, turning her back to normal.

Snipe looked at the duo, "That was impressive." he said, making them look at him, "Doing incredible strategies like that earns y'all the right to go to training camp." Mika smiled and bowed, "Thank you, Sensei." she said; Mezo nodded before they left.

(Time Skip)

Mika and Mezo were walking back to the main building. Mika smiled brightly, "I can't believe we passed." she said, "I'm excited about this camping trip!" Mezo nodded, "If it weren't for your quick plan, the both of us would be in summer school hell." he said, "Thank you, Lyoko."

Mika blushed and rubbed the back of her neck, "I-It was nothing..." she said. When Mezo looked forward, he was surprised, "What's Koda doing outside?" he asked. Mika looked forward and saw Koji at the bottom of the stairs; she was surprised and sprinted toward him.

When Mika got close to Koji, she noticed he was out of breath, worrying her, "Are you alright, Koji?" she whispered. When Koji turned his head to Mika, he smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist, shocking her.

Mika looked at Koji, "What are you-" he lifted her and spun her around, making her hold onto his shoulders. When Koji stopped spinning, Mika was dizzy before shaking her head.

Koji looked at Mika with bright eyes, "You were amazing, Mika." he said before pulling her into a hug. Mika blushed and smiled as she returned the hug, "I didn't know you two were dating." they froze when they saw Mezo beside them.

Koji immediately placed Mika on the ground with a heavy blush. Mika turned to Mezo and rubbed the back of her neck with a slight blush, "I-I guess you saw and heard everything..." she said. Mezo nodded, "Don't worry about it; your secret is safe with me." he said.

Mika was relieved, "Thank you, Shoji." she said. Mezo nodded, "Curious question, am I the only one who knows about it?" he asked. Mika shook her head, "Actually, you were the second one who found out." she said, "The first one who found out was Tokoyami."

Mezo nodded before walking toward the building. Koji sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm sorry, I wanted to congratulate you on the practical exam, and-" Mika planted a kiss on his cheek, making him blush a bit.

Koji turned his head to Mika, "It's alright, Koji." she said, "Many people make mistakes." Koji slowly nodded, "W-What was the kiss for?" he asked. Mika slightly smiled at Koji, "It's to congratulate you on your practical exam, silly." she said.

Koji was shocked, "How did you-" Mika kissed against his mouth, making him blush. When the couple separated, Mika smiled at Koji, "I... had a hunch you won." she said, "You did amazing."

Koji's face was red, and he looked down, "Th-Thank you..." he said lowly. Mika giggled a bit, "How about we go back inside and see how the others are doing." she said. Koji slowly nodded, "O-OK..." he stuttered before they entered the building.
