Clothes were spread across my room, all of my skirts and trousers covering the floor with my dresses and tops decorating my soft blue bedding. Nat and Wanda had arrived in my room as soon as I told them Bucky had asked me on a date, and had quickly made themselves at home sprawled on my floor, lying on the dark cushions from my bed as they studied and debated my fashion choices.

My phone was propped against the small lamp on my bedside table, with Eve shouting her opinion every time the room fell quiet. Nat had declared that we needed a third opinion after her and Wanda had clashed by the fifth possible outfit and so I'd face timed Eve, interrupting her Scottish holiday with her soulmate.

I, meanwhile, was lying on my back on the bed, my legs propped upright against the wall. I was at a loss for what to wear, and asking the girls for advice was appearing to have been a bad decision. Each of them had a different style, and couldn't quite decide what my style was.

I watched as Eves face bobbed back onto my screen, her curly black hair framing her face as she scrunched her nose in thought. "What about the black dress?"

"I don't think we're going anywhere formal. I don't want to overdress." I mumbled, rolling to the side to watch Wanda trawling through my skirts.

She held up a floaty red skirt made from a cheap, flimsy material that I'd picked up in a sale with the intent on ripping it up and turning it into something else. I'd never gotten around to it, and even though I'd had it a year or so, I'd never worn it. The slightly see through material put me off. "What about the red skirt and black top?"

I shook my head. "It's November. He said we'd be walking places - I'm don't want to freeze for the sake of looking nice."

A deep, thick Scottish accent chimed in, interrupting Wanda who was about to argue the case for the summer skirt. "I vote the jeans and sweater." I lifted my head to see Nick, Eves soulmate, bobbing into the left half of my phone screen. His glasses were sliding down his nose as he peered at the camera, his eyes flicking around the mess that my room had become.

Eves head flipped to the side, her curls slapping Nicks cheek as her eyes widened, horrified. "It's a date! She's not wearing those scruffy jeans shes had since school." I rolled my eyes, but she was oblivious. "I think you should go for the floaty top and the leather jacket. Give it a bit of a bad girl style."

Nat perked up. "You could borrow my leather jacket. But I really like the fluffy coat and black jeans."

"Didn't I say jeans?" Nick beamed at the camera, proud with himself for having someone agree with him.

Eve mumbled something, and Nicks head disappeared from the screen. I lifted my phone up so I could see her a bit clearer as she turned her attention back to the clothing situation. "Amelie, babes, what do you want to wear?"

I glanced at the smudged black pen on the back of my hand. "He said we'll be walking a lot. Last time we went to the fair, maybe it's something like that again? It's cold outside though... I'm not sure what it is that he's planning."

Wanda sat up, a smile glinting in her eyes. "So we dress warm then."

On the phone Eve nodded along, "go with the new black jeans and Wanda's heeled ankle boots. That gives off a smart-causal, dressed up vibe."

Wanda nodded happily, as Nat began rooting through the piles of discarded clothes on the floor to find the jeans. Still out of frame, Nick shouted "I think you should wear the long grey coat that stops down your leg. That way you'll stay warm."

"Where did that coat go?" It was from option three, but we'd paired a skirt with it, and I'd said no. Having a long coat buttoned up from the cold with a short skirt would make it look like I wasn't wearing anything underneath it. Nat had said that could be a good thing, but I'd managed to convince her I wouldn't be able to pull that look off well.
