~8 MONTHS LATER~
"Merry Christmas Eve Eve!"
I jumped from my odd position crouched behind the decorated tree, smacking my head on the wall behind me. "Piss off, Parker." I muttered, rubbing the small lump I felt beginning to grow.
"That's not a nice way to greet your cousin." He mumbled. I edged from behind the tree to see him attempting to walk through the doorway carrying huge bags of Christmas presents.
"Your fault I hurt myself." I argued, as Wade followed carrying stacks of brightly wrapped boxes. He wasn't wearing his red uniform that I had been accustomed too, though I was used to his scarred body now.
It wasn't until Bucky and I first left the Tower that Wade had decided to stop hiding behind his suit, but only when he came to visit. The village we live in was full of ex-service people, many of whom had many visible scars. After his first visit, where he'd been surprised to see Gemma's burns across the majority of her body, he had returned wearing a T-shirt and jeans.
He still wore the mask until he was inside our house though, but recently he was wearing as little of the suit as possible, exchanging the red latex armour for loose tops and jackets.
"Amelie my beautiful darling cousin, how are you?" He swept me into a hug, squeezing me tightly into his chest after abandoning the presents on the sofa.
"I am so tired I want to sleep forever." I mumbled into his chest. "I still have to get the food sorted for tonight." I grumbled, regretting inviting everyone to our house for a party.
"Are we the first ones here?" Peter asked as Wade finally released me from his tight grip.
"No, Eve and Nick are already-"
"Their baby!" Peters shout interrupted me as he flew into the dining room, his cooing audible as he pounced on Eves young baby.
Wade and I followed him, to see Peter had enveloped the blanket that was securely wrapped around Isaac's sleeping body. His face was inches from the oblivious baby's, his eyes growing wet with emotional tears like they did every time he saw him.
"Nice to see you too Pete," Eve yawned, pushing herself from her chair to give Wade a polite hug, "you too freaky man."
"How's not sleeping crazy lady?" Wade grinned, hooking his arm around her shoulders as she slapped his chest playfully. Nick watched on from a distance, chatting casually with Bucky, who was cradling a piping mug of hot chocolate.
Bucky's eyes caught mine, but before he could do more than send me a flirtatious wink, there was a knock at the door.
A young man with a mop of curly brown hair, and his overly excitable little sister bounded into the room, followed by their two mothers. Rebecca Barnes was grumbling at the back of the group, her arm wrapped tightly around Steve's bicep.
"Uncle Bucky!" Jules projected herself into Bucky's arms, barely waiting for Nick to grab the hot drink from his hands. Bucky twirled her in circles before gently balancing her back on her feet, her toothy smile directed right at him. "I have more Lego!"
"Brilliant." Bucky's smile was entirely genuine. After Tom had shown him pictures of Jules' obsession, the next time the now eight year old had come to visit, she'd brought a box of the bricks. Her monthly visits consisted of creating the tallest buildings, and weirdest looking creatures.
"Hey Tom." I gave him a hug, already feeling shorter than the last time I saw him. "Stop growing." I kicked his shin playfully, to which he barked a laugh.
His voice had deepened yet again, and his face had matured in the few months I hadn't seen him. "You're shrinking grandma." He teased. I swatted him away, and went towards his mums.
