I woke up early today to watch the sunrise. Madilim pa nang lumabas ako ng villa. With phone clasped on my hands, naglakad ako patungo sa seashore.
I watched the famous cloud 9 waves of Siargao, excited na tuloy akong magsurf mamaya.
Unti-unti ay naghahati na ang kadiliman at liwanag but unlike the sunset, the light will surely win over darkness this time. I am staring with awe as I recall those days with my Ate, siya ang kasama ko noon manood ng sunrise. I felt the familiar pain and loneliness deep within me na matagal ko nang binaon sa limot. It hurts doing something you were doing with someone before. It feels like I was left all alone.
Hershey is finally awake when I got back.
"Where have you been?" she asked pagpasok ko sa room namin.
"Alone?" She spared me a quick glance before going back to what she was doing on her phone.
I nodded at dumapa sa kama ko.
"Why? Were you expecting me to be with Sage or me with Hill?"
"I was hoping it was Sage."
"Why Sage and not Hill? I mean, if you're going to compare them, Hill is actually the better choice."
"Well, that's not my opinion. For me it's Sage."
Ngumuso ako at hinarap siya. "There's no need to choose, though. I don't like any of them."
"Oh, whatever, just wake the other girls up for breakfast."
After waiting for them to finish preparing ay nagtungo na kami sa restaurant.
He waved his hand when our eyes met.
"Good morning, girls," bati niya.
"You met my friends already, right?" Wika ko.
"Yeah, dito na kayo umupo." He gave my friends his warm smile. I looked at my friends and they just nodded their heads in approval.
"Let's get our food."
Nagtinginan nalang kaming magkakaibigan at sumunod sa kanya.
"We'll seriously have our breakfast with him?"
Kumunot ang noo ko, what is he trying to do?
"There's no need for that, Hill. I'll get what I want," wika ko.
"I'm sorry, are you mad?" Marahan niyang binaba ang kanyang plato habang naninimbang ang tingin sakin.
"No, I'm not," sagot ko at bumaling sa mga kaibigan na nakabalik na.
"Let's eat!" anunsyo ni Hill.
"I'm really glad na dito kita nakita. It's been what? A month since the last time we saw each other."
