A True Happy Ending

Jessica's POV

"Stwabwee!" Penelope my 2 year old daughter said from where she sat in her stroller next to Shawn.

"Ok sweetie, I'll get you a strawberry ice cream. Shawn, babe, what flavour would you like?" I turn to my husband of 3 years.

"Chocolate please" I turn to the cashier and order our ice cream. Once we got our ice cream we walk around in the park across from the ice cream shop. 

In summer the park is one of our favourite places to go as a family. Just walking in the sun in the park, green grassy hills, children laughing and playing. Birds chirping and a little duck pond where Penelope loves to feed the ducks. It's always so peaceful, especially on a Sunday morning. Walking hand in hand, we find a nice little park bench under a big oak tree. Providing us with some nice shade, we sit down and eat our ice cream. 

"Tanku, mamma, dadda" I look down at Penelope and laugh when I see that she has ice cream smeared all over her face and shirt.

"Hold still bubba, I want to get a photo" Shawn takes out his phone and takes a picture of Penelope covered in ice cream. He shows me the photo, of her smiling, with ice cream literally everywhere. "That's a keeper" Shawn smiles and then puts his phone away.

"I wove you, dadda, mamma" Penelope giggles as the ice cream continues to fall on her shirt.

Shawn reaches over and cleans all the ice cream with a napkin. "I love you too my little princess" He kisses her forehead and leans back, resting his arm behind me on the bench.

"I love you too munchkin" I kiss her cheek, before resting into Shawn's side. "I love you babe" I kiss Shawn sweetly on the lips, before pulling away.

"I love you to Jessica Bernice Lessard Mendes" Shawn leans in and kisses my lips again. 

"Eww" Penelope giggles and covers her face with her hands, causing Shawn and I to laugh at her behaviour.

"Swing!" Penelope reaches out towards Shawn, "Swing! Dadda!" Shawn picks her up out of the pram and carries her over to the playground where the swing set is.

I stay on the park bench under the big tree, watching my husband and my daughter play on the swings, laughing and giggling with each other. The sun shining down on them making their faces shine with happiness. The scene before me is like an end scene of a movie, where the camera zooms out slowly, showing the happy family playing in the park, cherishing each others presence, whilst the music plays in the background. A true happy ending.
