You Take Care Of Him When He's Sick

*Shannon's POV*

"Now you just stay in bed and rest, I'll go get you your medication and some chicken noodle soup, ok?" I said as I tucked Shawn into bed, and putting a cool wash cloth onto his forehead to bring his fever down.

"Ok, thanks baby, you're the best. I don't know what I would do without you. You're the best girlfriend in the world, taking care of me when I'm sick" Shawn said as he slowly drifted off into sleep.

I quickly went downstairs and after checking all the cupboards in our kitchen, I realised we didn't have any ingredients to make soup, but I did find ingredients to make him his favourite, muffins. Maybe that will make him feel better. I checked the time and got to work, making the muffins. Once the muffins were finished I set it on a tray, along with a glass of orange juice, the ibuprofen and a glass of water for the ibuprofen. 

Walking back up the stairs and pushing the door open with my foot, I saw Shawn sitting up in our bed, cuddling his toy lion, Leo. I smiled at how cute he looked holding that stuffed animal. 

"There wasn't any soup left, so I made you muffins instead. But before you eat the muffins you have to take your medicine" I said pulling the tray out of his reach and setting it on the dresser, grabbing the medicine off the tray and turning back around to face a pouting Shawn. 

"Aww come on baby, please don't be cruel, Shannon please give me the muffins, I don't want to take medicine. I don't need it. I'm fine" He said, gesturing to his body for further emphasis. 

He then let out a nasty cough, making me raise my eyebrows, "Yeah, you don't need medicine what was I thinking? How stupid of me." I said sarcastically, as I rolled my eyes, pushing the medicine towards him.

"Shannon, no. I don't want it" He said shaking his head like a five year old, refusing to have his medicine. 

"Fine, I didn't want to do this, but you give me no choice" I said as he looked confused.

Before he could react I quickly took Leo the lion from his arms, making him gasp loudly, eyes wide. "Hey! Shannon give that back! How dare you!" 

"No. Not until you have your medicine" I said sternly, Shawn crossed his arms and pouted like a child.

"No" I felt like a parent, as I shifted my weight onto one leg, placing my hand on my hip, arching my eyebrow.

"Shawn, baby, you need to take your medicine to get better. Look if you take those two tablets I will give you back Leo and I will give you the muffins. Then we can cuddle, deal?" He went quiet as he seemed to think this over in his head, trying to see if it was just a trick.

"Alright fine" He hesitantly sighed, giving up, as he swallowed the tablets and the water.

"See that wasn't so bad, was it? You big baby" I said as I handed him back his favourite stuffed toy and the muffins.

"Thank you for the muffins, and for taking care of me, even if I was a pain in the ass" Shawn said as he finished the muffins and set Leo the lion aside, opening his arms, gesturing for me to lie down with him.

"Not, if. You are a pain in the ass" I said, making him put a hand to his chest and gasp, feigning offence. "But I still love you, because you're my pain in the ass" I said, making him chuckle.

"Good, I love you too, and you're also a pain in my ass" He said whilst pinching my cheeks.

I swatted his hands away from my face, as I laid down next to him, resting my head on his shoulder and draping my arm over his stomach. Both his arms circled around my back and waist, holding me close to him. We laid there for a while not talking, just lying there and enjoying the others company, soon falling asleep.

"No!...Stop!..." Shawn cried out in his sleep, as his body violently shook beneath me.

My eyes flew open as I abruptly sat up, looking around the dark room, realising that Shawn was having a nightmare. I turned to look at Shawn's sweating figure, his eyebrows creased as he kept moving frantically in his sleep.

"Shawn, baby" I say quietly, unsure if I should wake him up.

"Shannon...no!" He cried out, his body shooting upright as he opened his eyes, panting in fear. He quickly looked towards me and lunged at me, engulfing me in his arms, as his body trapped me on the bed.

"Oh thank god!" He let out breathlessly as his face found its way into the crook of my neck.

"Shawn, baby? What happened? Did you have a nightmare?" I asked as I gently pushed Shawn off me, so that the both of us were sitting upright on our bed. 

I brush some of his hair off his sweaty forehead, him leaning into my touch as my hand gently caressed his flushed cheek. "I had a nightmare...th-here was an accident, a-and you-I can't lose you! It was horrible. I th-hought I lost you." Shawn said softly, a stray tear escaping his eye.

I brushed his tear away with my thumb and took his face in both my hands, making his eyes look at mine. "Shawn it's ok, everything is ok. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere, do you hear me? You're stuck with me forever, I love you and I am not going anywhere, you're not going to lose me. Baby it was just a nightmare" I kissed Shawn on the forehead and wrapped my arms around his shoulders, his arms instantly wrapping around my waist as he pulled me into his lap.

I readjusted myself into a more comfortable position, so that I was straddling him, but still holding onto him as he let out a few shaky breaths into my neck. "Shhhh, it's ok baby. I'm right here. Everything is fine Shawny, I love you so much, it's ok" I rubbed his back with one hand as the other was softly stroking his hair.

His breathing went back to normal after a couple of minutes, "Thank you Shannon, I-I thought I lost you. I love you so much, just the thought of losing you terrifies me. But, I know you're not going anywhere, and neither am I. Thank you...you're too good to me" Shawn smiled at me as his brown eyes shone with love and adoration. 

"It's ok Shawn, I love you too" I said as I rubbed the back of his head, making him close his eyes  humming in enjoyment. 

"Let's lie down again. I want to hold you in my arms" He said as he began to lay on his side, motioning for me to be the little spoon.

Without hesitation I joined him, lying down on our bed, his arms wrapping around my waist pulling my back flush up against his front. His breath fanning the back of my neck.

"I love you Shannon, forever and always." Shawn said quietly, as he gently kissed the space in between my neck and shoulder. 

I grabbed his hands and kissed the top of them, "I love you too Shawn, forever and always"
