I became a veil worker for the first time in the Washington D.C. Temple. We continued in activity in the Church for the next 35 years. As with anyone, we had our ups and downs, times we were very dedicated and consistent and sometimes when we just went through the motions. Overall we did our best to raise our children in a gospel oriented home. There were pros and cons. It was very nice to have a social network for us in the military as we moved, on average, every two years. When we would move we would simply look up the church and we instantly had a network of friends we could look to for support and assistance. The difficulty was, as members of the church the demands of membership are quite ominous and often at the sacrifice of family. This was further complicated by my earning my Bachelor's degree while working full time in the Air Force.
