Delilah practically sprinted back to the fort. She just wanted to be away from that embarrassing tragedy. On her way back she saw a women having her purse stolen from a man in a black mask, but Delilah didn't care. She knew it was fake and she was too happy. A boy noticed her! Someone on this earth thought she was pretty! She never knew this feeling was possible.
After sprinting a full mile, Delilah finally arrived at the fort. She saw a note on the table that said, "We went to the stream, come meet us here. And don't forget the coffee! ~Us." So Delilah walked to the stream. She would've sprinted again, but she was still winded.
"Hey look, Delilah's back!" Grace said. Hunter and Grace were swimming in the stream, but Jack was sitting on the side.
"Why are you so smiley?" Jack said with a frown. Delilah didn't even realize she was smiling until he said something.
"Did you lose the bet?"
"Yes I did. I get that the bet is to be happy but you don't have to smile so big that your face will hurt."
"Well, there was this boy at the coffee shop and he gave me his number!" Delilah said as she jumped into the stream fully clothed.
"He did? Delilahs' got a boyfriend!" Grace screamed.
"Who was he?" Hunter asked with his voice cracking a little bit.
"Drake Dimklin."
"Of course it is," Hunter mumbled under his breath.
"Oh my gosh! He's really cute!" Grace said.
"I know!" Delilah was acting like a normal teenage girly girl. She usually never acts like this, but this was an unusual event.
"Jack! Why don't you jump in?" Hunter said doing his best to change the subject.
"Because I don't take off my shirt."
"So jump in with your shirt on. Grace and Delilah have theirs on."
"Yeah, no."
"Why won't you take it off?" Grace asked.
"Why won't you take that freaky collar off? And Hunter why won't you take off your bracelets? We all things we just won't take off. Except for you princess, because you're obviously perfect," Jack said with sarcasm in his voice. Delilah finally looked around and realized she never has seen Jack with his shirt off, or Hunter without his bracelets, or even Grace without her necklace. Maybe they were just important to them. Delilah really didn't care.
Later that day Delilah was walking down the street, texting Grace. Delilah was walking to the book store. She finally finished "Romeo and Juliet" and needed another book. Delilah walked into the store and stalked over to the mystery section. She was looking down at her phone when she accidentally ran into someone. They were so big that they almost knocked her over. She looked up and saw Drake looking back at her.
"Hey again," he said. She could feel the heat coming off her cheeks.
"Hi."
"So did you look at your receipt?"
"Yeah- yeah I saw it," the only thing that was going through her head was, "Come on you idiot say something!"
"So can I get your number in return?" Drake asked. Delilahs' heart was beating so fast, she could barely hear anything over it. Maybe he didn't just think she was cute, maybe he actually liked her. Delilah sat there, tongue tied.
"Okay, can I at least buy you a book?" He asked. Gee, most guys will buy a pretty girl a drink, but he buys books? He's obviously a keeper.
"Oh my god you idiot, nod your head!" She thought. So she did, and his cheeks turned rosey red.
"So I'm going to take it you like mystery, but have you read this book?" Drake held up a book titled "Going To Dark Places" Delilah shook her head and started reading the back.
"It's probably my favorite, I think you'd like it, considering you read Romeo and Juliet," David said. Delilah smiled, because she finally knew that he really did like her.
Delilah and Drake went to the counter and bought the book. Delilah grabbed the receipt and quickly wrote her phone number, then gave it to Drake. When Drake noticed, he smiled. He walked Delilah out of the store, then said goodbye. Delilah checked her phone and she had over ten unread messages from Grace, all saying, "Where are you, why aren't you answering me?" Delilah was just about to reply when the boy in a beenie and glasses with brown hair and brown eyes who just bought her a book came back and stole a quick kiss off of her lips. Then, he was gone again.
