Pilar didn't see it start, but she saw it happen. After Peter let go over her hand, all she heard was the sound of bone on bone, and a body falling to the ground. Pilar tried to screw her eyes shut, but she couldn't look away. Peter was already grabbing Daniel off the ground and pinning him to the closest wall by the time her mind even began to process what was happening.
"Peter!" Pilar heard York scream. Pilar wanted to do something, but on the inside, she was happy Daniel was about to get killed. She wanted Peter to beat him until he was bloody and barely breathing. She wanted Daniel to suffer.
"If you ever touch my girl ever again, I will kill you," Peter threatened. Daniel was obvious terrified. His nose and and lip was already bleeding. Peter had his arm lodged under Daniel's neck. Out of nowhere, a cocky smile spread across Daniel's face.
"Why should I leave her alone? She seemed to like it," Daniel gave a wink to Pilar which made a bubble of rage explode inside of Peter- and Pilar. Peter slammed Daniel on the ground and Pilar finally snapped out of her daze. She came over and started kicking a defensless Daniel. Over and over, Daniel laid, taking the beating. Peter was shocked at how much rage Pilar could hold. Then, an image came to Pilar's mind. She was laying on the ground, being kicked by Lola. She was praying the beating would end, but it didn't. Everybody arouns her was just laughing, enjoying the pain, much like Pilar was enjoying Daniel's pain. Pilar had this look on her face, the look of true pain.
She snapped out of her daydream to see Daniel, having that same look.
She stopped kicking him, and was horrifed at what she has done to someone. She ran out of the restaurant, leaving Peter and York in her tracks. Peter just stared at York, asking what was wrong with her with nothing but his stare, and York just shrugged her shoulders.
Pilar just started running. She didn't know where she was going, nor did she care. Pilar just kept sprinting on the sides of the roads. She saw things Pilar hasn't seen since she was a kid, she also saw things she's never seen in her life. She thought she's seen everything in this small town of hers, instead, she's only seen a part of it.
Somehow Pilar made it to a rundown hotel she has never seen before. She had to stop. Her lungs were crying for air. She slid her back against the hard, brick wall regaining her strength.
'Nobody can find me here,' she thought. Until Lola Pretz appeared around the corner.
'What is she doing here?' She also thought. But suddenly, her breath was back and she started sprinitng the opposite direction of Lola, the same direction Pilar came from.
Eventually, Pilar arrived back at Louis'. The sun was just started to sink into the horizon and the sky was full of different colors. Pilar walked in a asked for a glass of water, to no one imparticular. She put her head down in her hands and sat at the old style bar. The glass of water was slammed down onto the wood, causing it to spill over her. She lifted her head to see Daniel, beaten up and angry. His nose was broken with blood on the outside, he also had a black eye, and the side of his lip was busted open.
"Here's your water. Careful, don't kill me because I spilled it."
"You violated me, of course I am going to hurt you," Daniel was about to retort, but then his face lifted from the hatred.
"I'm sorry Pilar," Daniel said, catching Pilar off guard, "I know that was wrong, and I'm sorry. Please, don't hate me. I know I made that mistake and I crossed the line, but I am truly sorry." Pilar was about to walk out of the building, storm out and never turn back, until she saw past his eyes. She saw he was actually apologizing, not just faking it. You can't fake the real look of concern.
"I accept your apology," Pilar said, causing Daniel to smile.
"Hey, my shift is over in a couple minutes, do you want to stay? You seem like you need some water," Pilar just laughed.
"Oh, but can you do me another favor?" Daniel asked, Pilar nodded her head, "Can you call your boyfriend too? I really want to get on that guys good side," Pilar wiped out her phone, over dramatically and dialed Peter's number, so that they could make up, and possibly have a new friend.
