Hunter woke up in his own bed for the first time in weeks. He truly missed the smells, the sights, and most importantly, the one person who made him feel truly at home. Delilah. He finally got his home back, and he couldn't wait to get back to her. He grabbed a quick bite to eat and then jumped in the shower. Another thing he missed was his own shower. It washed away all the pain and torture of being away. The warm water running down his body felt more relaxing than ever before.
After Hunter threw on a blue hoodie and jeans, he decided not to put his contacts in, but instead grabbed his black rimmed glasses that were sitting in his cupboard. Wearing his glasses reminded him of the day he met the love of his life. He walked into the classroom and saw a beautiful girl sitting in the back buried in a book. His heart immediantly sped up as he made his way to the back. The memory made him smile. All he wanted to do was make Delilah smile.
Hunter walked downstairs and dialed Delilah's number. It rang four times before the familar sound of her recording message rang through the phone.
'Maybe she's still asleep' he thought. Hunter walked outside to walk to Delilah's. He opened the door and saw Delilah's car sitting in the driveway. Hunter's heart sped up.
'Did something happen to her? No, no, Hunter, you need to relax. I'm sure she just walked home instead of driving.' He thought. He walked over to the passenger side and look in. Delilah's purse and coat was still in there. He could see Delilah's phone lit up from the missed call. Now Hunter started to worry. He started walking down the road to Delilah's house, but only made it a few steps before stopping. He heard something crunch under his sneaker. He lifted his shoe up to see Delilah's violet dolphin necklace laying on the ground. Hunter looked behind the bush where it was and down the road. Delilah doesn't go anywhere without her necklace. There's no way it just fell off, Delilah would've noticed. Or she would've been calling Hunter at three in the morning freaking out that it was gone. Hunter sprinted down to Delilah's house. Once he reached the door, Hunter pounded on the door fast and hard. Nobody was home. Hunter went around back and climbed in an open window. Once he was in, he sprinted up to her room. He busted in and saw nobody there. But her room was a mess, like she's hasn't cleaned it in a long time. Hunter could not stop breathing heavy. Something was wrong, he knew that for a fact. He dialed Grace's number, hoping she was there.
"Hello?" Grace said.
"Is Delilah with you?" He asked in a hurried tone.
"No, I thought she was with you?" When Grace said no, Hunter hung up the phone. Oh, where could she be?
'The tree! That's the only other place she could be!' Hunter sprinted towards the fort. Once he got there, she wasn't at the base of the tree. So, Hunter checked in the fort. She wasn't there either. He knew she wouldn't be with Drake again. She wasn't with family, she would've been texting him to avoid people. It was now very clear to Hunter.
Delilah was gone.
