Hunter showed York, Lola, and Peter to the fort. Jack and Grace were there as well, being the couple they are on the couch. Jack sneaking kisses on Grace's cheek when she wasn't looking and Grace giggling as the rest of the kids wanted to throw up.
"Alright! People, we're here to try to figure out how to get Delilah and Pilar back!" As the last word slipped out of Hunter's mouth, his phone started going off. He grabbed it out of his pocket and said, "It's a video call, and it's from a blocked number." Hunter answered the phone and pushed it in front of everybody in the room, who were crowded around Hunter's shoulders. Peter and Hunter gasped as the saw the two girls, almost unrecognizable from the blood, tied to chairs.
"Hunter, Peter," Delilah spoke, "send one hundred dollars to the school in an envelope labeled Drew."
"After he receives the money he'll let us go. And if you guys call the police, we'll die." Then, the video cut out. Tears formed in both Peter and Hunter's eyes, but they chocked them back. Grace, Lola, and York all looked so shocked, the color of their skin turned to Snow White.
Jack just looked unamused.
"What kind of kidnapper only asks for one hundred dollars? Don't they usually ask for, like, one million?" Peter asked.
"I don't really care," Hunter answered, "one hundred works for me. So, how do we come up with one hundred? I'm broke as shit." All the kids just shook their heads, they were all broke.
"Come on guys!" Peter screamed, "They're letting us off easy with only one hundred and we can't even afford that?" Jack flinched and ran over the basement door, almost as if he was guarding it.
"Jack? What is it?" Grace asked.
"Nothing, nothing I swear."
"It's not nothing, what are you hiding?"
"I don't want her back! I hate her and I refuse to let you get her back!"
"We don't even have-" Hunter started but stopped himself.
The bet jar.
The stupid bet jar they made, nobody won the stupid bet they made the day Delilah met Drake, so the hundred was still in there. Hunter went up to Grace and whispered, "Distract him so I can get the bet jar." Grace took this hint and walked straight up to Jack and started kissing him. He kissed back, but refused to move from his spot.
"Why don't we go back to my house?" Grace whispered in his ear.
"O-okay." Jack said forgetting all about the money. Grace lead Jack out the door and winked at Hunter, York, Lola, and Peter before shutting the door behind her. Hunter immediately ran downstairs and found the jar, the stupid, pointless jar that would save Delilah and Pilar's life.
